Sorry for all of the questions, but I am trying to learn as much as I can before purchasing a diamond ANYWHERE!

I looked at a 1.26 lazarre, it was beautiful. Actually there were two...1.26 and 1.25. One a VS2 and one a SI1, as I posted previously, the SI1 actually looked better under the scope.

For some reason, though, I though tthat hte measurements were in the 6''s...6.44x6.58 x ??

I am reading on these boards that a diamond this carat weight should be in the 7s. The two that I looked at were both AGS000 though.

Are you sure you got the measurements right?? That would be rather steep stone and you''d lose a lot of the stones size in it''s depth. A 1.26 carat stone should be in the 6.9 to 7.0 range. I''d ask them to provide you a sarin on the two stones.

I am not perfectly sure but am quite sure that it was either 6.4 or 6.8. I do not understand the Sarin report. Care to explain?

1.26 should measure very close to 7mm if not over. definitely not under. especially not that far under!

You can use this thread on page 2 of the FAQs to confirm. Chances are the reporting on one of your numbers is in error.

I found the paper that I wrote the numbers down on ....they were...

6.88 x 6.94 x 4.30...

ANY THOUGHTS??

Is this okay being it is close to 7???

62% depth isn''t terrible. the effect of the small diameter really depends on what the rest of the dimensions are. it could be okay...or not so good.

not an expert at these things, but a couple of observations:

a) AGS0 means a lot
b) so does lazarre
c) I looked at the 6 diamonds appearing on the search by cut db also measuring 1.26 carats, and yours is .04 narrower than the average...not signficant enough on the face of it to be concerned about it. This ACA averages .01 larger. Also, I understand that girdle thckness, itself, doesn't particularly effect performance...even though it may suggest lack of maximum efficiency for the weight you are paying for.

Ally, I answered you on another thread before I saw this (and said exactly what Rod did!). But have you compared the price of these Lazarre stones to others on this site? I would think you might be paying too much for that name.

Belle--

How did you get the depth by the numbers that I posted? What is a good depth after all?

4.30/average diameter=depth %

a GOOD depth depends on everything else. if you had a 32' crown angle and a 40.8' pavilion angle, a depth of 62 would be too deep. however, if you had a 36.5' crown angle and a correspondingly lower pavilion angle, a 63 depth would not be unreasonable.

if this is the stone you like, a few widths of a hair should not make or break your decision.
