I am in the final stages of buying an engagement ring . i have narrowed it down to 2 stones im having a hard time decideing. The cut, table, and depth are comparable on both stones and are within the very good- ideal range. No culet or floresence on either stone. One is a 1.23 F SI 1 GIA graded stone and the other is a 1.50 F VS2 EGL but im not sure if its EGL or EGL USA. The price difference between the 2 is about 1850 dollars I appreciate any help that you guys could give me. I need to put a deposit on one of these stones . Thanks

Welcome.

The price of GIA graded diamonds is usually higher than EGL, we also need to know if it is an EGL USA, Europe, Israel, Antwerp etc? Also EGL uses percents for crown and pavillion angles which aren't as accurate, but to help further we need you to post:

depth
table
crown angle and %
pavillion angle and %
girdle measurement
diameter measurements

Also use your own eyes to see which you prefer. If the vendor has any Idealscope images available, these are useful to help further judge the cut, but above all, check these diamonds out in different lights if you can and see if one 'speaks' to you. Also check if the vendor has a return policy and if he will let you trade in the diamond - this is a nice option to have.

Ditto. Without more information other than the carat weight, colour, clarity and labs, I can''t tell you why one cost more than the other. Heck, I don''t even know the shape of the stone.

Hey, Joe, it''s your money...but .... can you, like, get an idea which it is (EGL USA or EGL other)?

I think if it''s not EGL USA I''d just say no. Just being conservative.

Not sure what I''d say yes to, though.

Regards,

My apologies about not including the shape. They are both round stones. its about 9 am EST both dealers do not open until 10 so i will call and get the rest of the info and repost . Thanks for the help so far.
