I have two stones on hold through Blue Nile (so no one can take them, lol). Which would you pick?

Thanks!

What is the current info on the ring you have now (size, color, clarity)?

If size is the main factor for you, then the J would make for an excellent choice. From what I''ve read, J''s with blue flour look fabulous.

If your current stone is a higher color, then maybe compare your stone to some well-cut Js before deciding. You may be more color sensitive than others.

(Personally, I''d go with the I stone ONLY because I''d feel more comfortable with a smaller diamond. But, that is just me. I''d probably go even smaller AND get a G/H. Everyone is so different in priorities, though, so get what YOU''D love)

What color and clarity is stone# 2?

*Edit* Oops ... just saw it.

I would go with number# 2!

Hey, put those back! Those were both on my "diamond comparison" list.

I am not an expert and have not plugged the numbers in. At first glance I would choose # 1 based on the highlighted info. Is there much of a $ difference?

ETA: I just noticed you are comparing a VS1 and VS2, would you consider a lower clarity for higher ctw? I own a VS1 love it, but if I knew then (yadda yadda yadda) I would def go SI's. I bought SI's for my earrings and cannot for the life of me find the inclusions.

You snooze, you lose around here! Particularly during this time of year...

Gosh Feb, I wish they did IS''s, as 1 could be a real beauty, besides being bigger and having flo....Honestly, if you''re really wanting the bigger stone, and since they do have a great return policy, I think I''d shoot for 1, and return it if it turns out it''s not what it has potential to be. Tight 34/41''s can be very biright, firey diamonds. That''s the combo mine has.

I''d get the bigger one, of course! What happened with yours? Are you not happy with the size? I feel like I missed a thread!

Ok, I have one more :)

Stone #3:

Measurements: 7.10 - 7.13 x 4.38 mm
Cut Grade: AGS Ideal 0
Light Performance: 0
Proportion Factors: 0
Finish: 0
Polish: Ideal
Symmetry: Ideal
Color Grade: AGS 3.0 (J)
Clarity Grade: AGS 6 (SI2)
Carat Weight: 1.33
Fluorescence: Medium Blue
Comments:

Table: 53.0%
Crown Angle: 34.4
Crown Height: 16.1%
Girdle: 0.7% to 2.9%
Pavilion Angle: 40.7
Pavilion Depth: 42.8%
Star Length: 54%
Lower Girdle Length: 77%
Total Depth: 61.6%
Culet: Pointed

Within reason I''m always gonna vote bigger. My priorities are cut, size, color, clarity. I have a couple SI1 diamonds that I cannot find the inclusion unless I try, with the loupe.
But, but but, what''s going on?! Are you swapping your trellis and upgrading already?! Inquiring minds want to know!

Feb, the latest one looks really good, however, I'm not a fan of a table that size. But that's just me. If that's not a problem, it looks great! (assuming eyeclean)

Thanks everyone! I got a color and clarity visual from Blue Nile that the 1.33 J SI2 was color and clarity eye clean, so the size whore in me took over and I chose that one. I ran the numbers through first real quick and it came back great!

On the HCA:
1.1 TIC using angles
.7 TIC using crown and pav %''s.

Using GemAppraisers DIY Grade Calculator it came back a 1A.

I know the table is on the smaller side, but BN said this was a great stone visually (they pulled it for the color and clarity visual), and since htey have a great return policy, I went for it! I''ve never gone down this far in color and clarity before, so I''m a weeeee bit nervous!

The stats again on the 1.33 are:
Shape and Style: Round Brilliant
Measurements: 7.10 - 7.13 x 4.38 mm
Cut Grade: AGS Ideal 0
Light Performance: 0
Proportion Factors: 0
Finish: 0
Polish: Ideal
Symmetry: Ideal
Color Grade: AGS 3.0 (J)
Clarity Grade: AGS 6 (SI2)
Carat Weight: 1.33
Fluorescence: Medium Blue

Star Length: 54%
Lower Girdle Length: 77%
Total Depth: 61.6%

$5,252.00

It''s being set in their simple platinum 6 prong solitare setting. Unless I love it, it''s just a temp setting for me until sometime next year

Milton- Trust, me, diamonds move FAST on Blue Nile! You definitely have to hold any candidates. I really wanted that 1.18 and half and hour later it was GONE.

Anyway, since I took the 1.33, the 1.06 and 1.20 are back on the Blue Nile market

Good luck!!

Thing2of2 and TanDog:

LOL, yeah, I loved the .91 but it literally shrank- shrank I tell ya!- in one week!

And as much as I loved the platinum trellis setting, searching through Blue Nile, I knew the only way I could go up in size was if I ditched the trellis setting (more expensive) and got with one of their simple platinum solitares (huge price difference). I''ll keep the 6 prong solitare for a while and sometime next year (unless I really love the simple 6 prong solitare) switch settings. But to go bigger NOW meant downgrading settings.

Thank you Ellen! I really value your opinion. I''m taking a chance on the 1.33 stone and will definitely post pictures when it arrives!!

Can you tell me why you don''t like the table on this one? Thanks so much!!

I love the stone you chose: small table AND fluro! My hearts going pitty-pat. But I am going to miss that beautiful trellis. That was one stunning ring you had! Good luck and hope you love the new one even more!!

Here is the cert so you can see what makes it an SI2. BN said it was totally eye clean, so let's hope the person who decided this had great vision!

Aw, thank you Feb!

Well, I could elaborate, but honestly I don''t want to cloud your view on this diamond. It''s just my personal view, it in no way makes it a "bad" diamond. So I''ll refrain and let you see it for yourself.

And I hope you love it!! Let us know.

Oh, a 1.33! That sounds great! The table is a little on the small side, but you''ll have to see it to know whether you love that look or not. It''s personal preference, much like color, clarity, etc.
