Hi

I have been looking at a few diamonds and it seems that for about the same money I can get a 1.2 F or 1.3 G with similar cut (excellent) and both GIA.

What would be the better option? I can't really see the difference myself between F and G and therefore the 1.3 seems better but the last thing I want to do is give the fiance some big yellow embarassment!

Any help would be appreciated!

Good morning and welcome to PS, Guiler. This section of the forum has a strong focus on coloured gemstones. I have requested that your thread be moved to RT where you will get better responses to your question.

Since both are GIA graded diamonds, F and G are next to each other on the colour scale. You will see the very slight difference when faced down on a white piece of paper, but if the cuts are ideal, then the difference in face up colour is difficult to tell apart.

What is the clarity of both diamonds? Dimensions?
What are the angles of both stones? Depth, table, crown and pavilion?

I highly doubt the diamond will be a big yellow embarrassment even if it is a G, especially if well cut and graded by a highly reputable lab.
