I have a loose stone I just purchased from Pearlmans-

1.12ct, G SI1
Square Modified Brilliant (Princess)
5.53x5.52x4.12
Dept 74.6%
Table 74%
Girdle THN to THK
Cutlet - Non
Polish - Excellent
Symmetry - Excellent
Fluorescence-None
Additional Clouds are not show. Surface graining is not shown.

What can I do to make sure this stone is good??

I mean I have the GIA report, and according the report the inclusions show a couple "clouds" however I can''t seem to see them (granted the stone is loose)

I think the stone looks ok, but the report sort of scares me...Jason at Pearlman thinks the stone is "great"...

If you can''t see the inclusions, then I wouldn''t worry a bit about the clarity! That means it is eye clean!

Hi sub,

Unfortunately, without a photo and/or ASET pic, we can't say much, except I don't see any red flags. It certainly has potential! And if you can't see any inclusions, you're good on that front.

Since I don't think Pearlman's does pics, I'd say just take it to an independant appraiser to make sure it meets your (and their) approval.

An independant appraiser??

Also the date on the GIA is 11/07...

does that matter? I mean that it''s been "hanging" around for so long..

No, sometimes diamonds just take a little while to find a home, that isn''t an old report in the scheme of things.

Last question--

the dimensions 5.52x5.53 --- does that seem to face up a little small for the total weight? 1.12??

Thanks

That is hard to say, you have a very nice tight diameter there but spread can vary with Princess cuts compared to rounds and without more details and images I would only be guessing as Princess can hold weight in different ways - maybe one of the experts will be along soon and would be able to give you a better opinion on the face up size, but I will try to find some more info for you.

Compared to this one it does appear to be facing up a bit smaller.

Sorry, just saw this. An independant appraiser is who you can take a diamond/piece of jewelry to, to have them assess whether it is what it was sold for, whether it is a good buy, find any unforseen/undisclosed problems, etc. Important note, this is a person who does not sell jewelry, therefore you get an unbiased opinion.

It seems to face up closer to a 1 ct.

They did- now I have it. they sent it to me.

why?

Sorry, I misunderstood. I didn''t realize you already had it in your possession.
