1.04ct VS1 or 1.18ct VS2?

Go with the bigger stone. If WF says they are both eye clean then no reason to pay for clarity you won't see. Pay for the size you will.

I agree completely....

yep, I agree with the ladies! =)

I agree to go with the VS2 so you can get a larger stone. The inclusions are very minimal and only the edge. It appears to be a very clean VS2!

There will be no problems with a WF VS grade. Since the price difference is only $500 - which is minimal over a lifetime - definitely go for the bigger one. At 14 points, you'll see the difference.

I had WF take a look and compared both of them and they told me other than the size difference their clarity and optical performance are virtually identical, I went with the bigger one as suggested, thank you so much for the help. ;-)

Yeah definitely the 1.18. 1.2ish is where a single diamond starts looking slightly bigger than 1 ct to my eye, so I think it's worth it.

What setting are you putting it in?

This is my 10th anniversary gift for my wife, I let her pick the setting and she prefer solitaire over three stone or any other setting with side stones. The engagement ring I bought her 11 years ago was a princess cut with several side stones, I believe it was 0.90ctw (0.40ct center stone) in 14k gold setting that I bought from overstock-dot-com for $1000, this is almost identical to the one I bought:

it doesn't sparkle and did not come with any certification. Back then I bought what I could afford, but now I'm in a better position to get her something decent.

She has no idea what kind of diamond I picked so i hope this would be a substantial upgrade from the one she got now. ;)

She picked the "Contemporary" Solitaire E-ring setting, so I got her the Platinum version:

The setting is perfect! It's going to be a beautiful ring and I can't wait to see pics! Congrats!!
