1.03 Oval from Ritani

For some reason, my computer won't play the HD video of the stone and I can't open the GIA report. The stone looks a little long and skinny to me. I'd probably go down some in color and up in clarity, too. I don't think Ritani will do an ASET image to show light return, so I might recommend James Allen and Good Old Gold who will. GOG would call in stones for you and then test light return and make a video. JA will allow you to select a max of three stones to request ASET images.

The video finally loaded. I can see that the girdle goes from quite thin to thick, and we would recommend at least very good for symmetry. I do think it is too long and thin. You can do better on the proportions.

The ratio is a 1.6 so it is quite elongated but I think I might like that look? I really would like to buy from ritani as I want the stone set in a halo setting from there. My budget for the stone is around 4,500 and they have plenty of stones to choose from but so many don't have videos so it's hard to pick one just from the report. :(

Yes, totally impossible to choose from a report. So many local jewelers carry Ritani that I don't think you'll have any issue having your stone set if you have to buy the stone elsewhere. You can look through all the stones the Ritani site offers videos for and then move on if none work.

Which Ritani setting have you chosen?

I love that setting and think Ritani is about the best value for a quality halo setting!

One other option is calling WhiteFlash and asking if they'd call in ovals for you and do ASET images and take photos of the stones for you. They may require a deposit to do so, as they will have expense bringing stones in. But it should be applied toward the purchase price. They carry Ritani settings. I think it will be easier to do that way as long as they will be willing to call in multiple stones until a good one is found.

One thing that I would have to find out is if Ritani actually casts the halo to exactly fit each diamond. Because if they have a stock design 1 ct halo, you really need to know what dimensions the stone needs to be.

Perhaps Chris at BE can do the setting for you, they are located in NYC
