Hello Everyone,
I am planning to look at this diamond tomorrow. I just wanted to get some opinions on the inclusions.
I read that I should look from the top and see if I can see the flaws then look and see how deep the cavity is.

I don't like cavities on the crown, they can fill with gunk and also can create weak spots if the edges around them are thin.
There is also 2 feathers leading off the cavity that could lead to damage from water expansion with severe changes in temp.

Then to top it off:
"Clarity grade is based on clouds that are not shown." is huge caution sign on a si2.

I see a bunch of red flags.

It scores a 3.2 on the HCA tool (https://www.pricescope.com/tools/hca), which is well outside the recomended under 2.0. The HCA tool checks if the angles of the stone are complimentary and this stone's are not great. That means the stone will be less sparkly as it is losing a lot of light. So, an F SI2, 1.4 round, 3x GIA is $7500-9000. To give you some comps that have high performance...

JA Settings are 25% off until 7/31. So a simple pave setting is only $750. https://www.jamesallen.com/engageme...ite-pave-cathedral-engagement-ring-item-49519

I always say I have to get up real early to beat Karl to the punch. It's just barely after 6 AM here in Boise and Karl has beat me to the draw once again. I was going to focus more on the cloud being the grade setter than anything else, but I see rockysalamander has covered that.

I think I will go back to bed now...

Thanks everyone.
I my price range is $9000 for a wedding set.
This diamond was priced at $6850

I found some other ones from the same wholesale diamond store but some of them have twinning wisps. Are twinning wisps visible to the eye?

I would put the majority of my money into a very well cut stone and set it in a simple setting. I realize this stone eclipses your entire budget but for the money, it is the closest to your overall budget. Do not be taken in by a 'wholesale diamond store' - they don't exist. They usually sell subpar merchandise at inflated prices. If you need to, go to a smaller stone but always, always insist on excellent cut. This diamond and other super ideal cut stones will stop traffic - you will never regret buying quality. Whiteflash also has a great trade in policy should you ever want to get her a larger stone.

There is a wealth of information to be found here regarding diamond cut quality. Read and be well informed before making such a large purchase.

lol thanks Wink.

Hapa,
Wisps can be totally eye clean and have no visible effect on the stone but they can also make the stone cloudy and interfere with light return. It is a case by case basis.
I have seen some that in bright lighting looked like a snow globe that was just shook up.
Others were just fine.

I agree with the above post about learning about diamond cut.

I have a spreadsheet I have been making from the different diamond sellers. If anyone wants to help me I would highly appreciate it. I understand it is a lot to go through lol.

Has your gal has expressed anything about ring style? Most of us will tell you to give a basic, but pretty solitaire to use more $ for your diamond -- but if she only wants a triple halo with pink diamonds that is important to know. Basic platinum solitaire ~$1200, 6-prong (choice), white metal (white gold, palladium, platinum). You don't buy her wedding band now. You let her decide once she gets to know her ering.

A few stone worth looking at, note I dropped the color to get better clarity in many of these. JA are more budget friendly, but they are not as precision as the others AND the buyback-upgrade policy requires you double the value for the upgrade.
