It’s 2022! Let’s get into it! I have long been an advocate of color, which includes white…as far as diamonds go…don’t get me wrong. I love pops of color though, I think they add a lot of dimension to a look. Color can change the way that we interact with people and things, businesses can plan for certain behaviors by painting their spaces in particular colors. It’s fascinating to learn about.
At Pantone, they know the color and they know the power that color can have on our brains. In a deliberate lean towards optimism, the color experts have created something new! For 2022, the color of the year is Very Peri, which is a brand new shade of periwinkle that they made just for this year.
From High Snobiety: “As we move into a world of unprecedented change, the selection of PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri brings a novel perspective and vision of the trusted and beloved blue color family,” Leatrice Eiseman, the Pantone Color Institute’s executive director, said. “Very Peri displays a spritely, joyous attitude and dynamic presence that encourages courageous creativity and imaginative expression.”
Pantone has, in recent years, really shown their ability to grasp the hope for each year. They aren’t necessarily aiming for fashion choices, but sometimes they just lend themselves to it. Very Peri is gorgeous and definitely lends itself to jewelry selections! I think wearing a bit of hope for a brighter, more joyous 2022 certainly can’t hurt! Let’s be intentional about choosing to face the future with an (as they said) “spritely, joyous attitude. ”
In 2021, the Pantone Colors of the Year were Ultimate Gray and Illuminating. It was like clouds and sunshine. 2018’s Color of the Year was Ultra Violet, which was a great purple color. Purple is one of my favorite colors, so your mileage may vary, but I loved Ultra Violet. Very Peri is more periwinkle than purple, more heavy on the blue undertones. It’s still a really nice color, and it’s really cool that they developed this shade for 2022!
Whiteflash and Tacori have several amethyst pieces, and I think they are a great Very Peri type of color. This color may be cooler, but it’s set to be hot in 2022!
