As you all know, we are huge fans of the storied jewelry houses which have been creating haute joaillerie since before many of us were born. One of those houses is known as Boucheron and has amassed many fans throughout the world. Although Boucheron may not be as well known as other jewelry houses – which are able to have their pieces consistently highlighted on the red carpet – it would be incorrect to assume that the house does not deserve it’s position next to the Harry Winstons and Van Cleef and Arpels of the world.
This is because the Boucheron has amassed a LARGE following among fans of stealth wealth and royalty. Queen Elizabeth II, the Duchess of Cornwall, Salma Hayek-Pinault and others covet their pieces and wear them whenever the occasion calls for it. Yes, this line is designed for women who love a bit of the exotic, but expect their clothes to present a stylish, yet harmonious image.
Yes, a house which creates jewelry for the ladies-who-lunch set did not start that way. The Boucheron had a love affair with Asia and Egypt and many of their pieces incorporated the regions’ style in their designs. By the time the Roaring Twenties came around, the house had been in existence for a little more than 60 years and cafe society went crazy for their designs.
Even though cafe society fell in love with Boucheron, the house’s real fans were royalty throughout the globe. Queen Rania of Jordan, the Maharajah of Patiala, Queen Farida of Egypt and Riza Shah Pahlavi all own pieces from the storied house.
Today, the house lives on. It has made several collaborations with fashion designers hoping to reach new audiences. The price point for one of the house’s pieces reportedly ranges from $1,000 – $250,000. Yet, it is sure to become a family heirloom the moment you purchase it. The house’s long history, royal fans and unique designs are all reasons why we are head over heels for Boucheron.
