Heh, I dislike a lot of the ones already listed. We don't visit the movie theater often, maybe once a year, and our method of choosing movies lately is watching those by directors we like. We own a bunch of Coen Brothers films, for example. Oh, I thought of one! Jason Segal (sp?). I wouldn't go see the Muppets movie in December '11 after I found out he was in it. Would've ruined the whole thing for me because I just find him that annoying!

Kathy Bates. I cannot stand her. Other than that, I can't think of any other actors I dislike enough to actively avoid their work.

I haven't been to a movie theater in around 5 years.

I have Netflix.
10 bucks a month for unlimited films, many of them are streaming live, and the rest come 2 DVDs at a times, postage paid.
(Actually it may cost more now, my SO pays it.)

I don't dislike him as an actor, but I spent years avoiding Brad Pitt movies. My younger brother looks EXACTLY like him. We're talking hair, features, build, mannerisms, and even the way he walks. When we went Christmas shopping several years ago, two full-grown women followed us around and asked him for his autograph. My sister-in-law was not amused! The last thing I want to see is Brad Pitt with his shirt off. Talk about heebie jeebies, yuck.

I don't care about any of the actors enough to avoid their movies- the only reason I avoid a movie is if it doesn't look like an excellent movie. Time's too precious to waste on crap. But there is one exception to this rule- and that is Mel Gibson. I dislike him enough to not go to any of his movies.

Once in a blue moon I'll go to the movies with SO but I HATE it because they are so LOUD! Movies these days are like clubs or concerts. Loud enough too damage your high frequency hearing ability. HATE to go to them. I'm not above walking out and waiting in the car.

I have a bunch but for me this thread has me curious as to why people don't like certain ones?

My guess is political for some and personal for others. Some actors are very vocal re their political views and some are very much out there in the news for their personal antics. Personally, I do not follow actors personal lives unless it is front and center in the real news. I don't read magazines etc that discuss actors so I am not in the proverbial loop but I am aware of what is going on in the news and that is my reason for disliking certain actors. However, as I posted, there is no actor (but one) that I care enough about to actually avoid going to their movies. If the movie looks excellent I am going to want to see it being the movie lover that I am. Except for Mel Gibson that is. I dislike him enough.

Kenny, I just noticed that Jessica Lange is on your avoid list. One of my favorite tv series is American Horror Story. Not sure if you have ever heard of it but it is awesome (at least I think so). She is one of the stars of the show though but I recommend you checking the show out when it comes back next season (or in repeats if it is on now). Really worthwhile IMO.
