What''s your favorite hand cream & body lotion? Now that we are into late fall, winter skin is setting in. Just wondering and looking for ideas. Thanks.

Mine is anything Aveeno.
 
I just discovered Molton Brown hand lotion and it''s the best I''ve tried. I say discovered, but it''s been sitting in my bathroom for a couple of years, I just never used it before. It''s quite a thin lotion so I didn''t think it would be rich enough to deal with winter hands. It''s fantastic though, made a real difference.

For body lotion, I love creme de la mer. I''m not crazy about the smell of it, but it works.

To avoid the discomfort of winter dry hands, I --

--Sleep with a humidifier on at night.

--Use moisturizing hand soaps. I bring my own to work so that I don't have to use the harsh soap in the dispensers there.

--Use rose water after I wash my hands. Rose water is available for a dollar or two at the pharmacy near the hand creams. It is a water, not a cream, so it is not greasy feeling. It is VERY soothing to already dry skin.

I do not really use a hand cream, so I'll be interested to see the responses here.

I would also like to mention a great product for use in the shower. Eucerin Shower Oil is AMAZING. It really makes a difference for overall dryness, and it's nice because you can begin moisturizing while in the shower, and then add a cream when you get out. It is marketed as a "calming" product for dry, itchy skin. I suffer from itchy, irritated skin due to allergies, so this product has been a lifesaver for me! I would think it would be helpful for winter dry skin too.
 
I always get the big bottles of Vaseline Intensive Care Moisturizer. It''s not too goopy and thick, but not so thin that my skin gets dry again as soon as it sinks in.

For times when I was washing my hands 10 times per work day in very dry conditions, I bought a jar of Aveeno stuff. Not sure what it''s called, but it''s basically the stuff for really damanaged skin and it worked great. It is pretty goopy, but it was perfect to slather on at night and repair some of the damage I got during the day.
 
Aveeno is great! I like it better than L''Occitane, or any of the more expensive brands.
 
For a cheapy lotion, I buy Gold Bond Ultimate Softening. I originally bought it just to use on my hands at work, but I liked it so much, I some for home and I put it on after I shower. So far it keeps my skin really soft and moisturized. It's not until Jan/Feb that my skin starts to get really dry and flaky, so I'm not sure how it will fare in the later winter months.
 
I love L''Occitane hand cream. It''s pricey but is by far my favorite. For a cheap alternative I like Nivea Cream. It''s kind of greasy at first but it rubs in. Aveeno doesn''t work for me-it leaves my skin feeling like there''s a film on it.

For body lotion, I use Lubriderm-just the regular kind with the blue top. I also try not to take super hot showers (which are my favorite!) because they dry my skin out.
 
My great skin treat is the Goats Milk Hand Therapy from Crabtree and Evelyn. That stuff is MIRACULOUS. I have the kind of skin that occasionally gets dry enough to crack, but never with that!
 
I was on a quest for a new body lotion, as my absolute favorite for over 20 years, Neutrogena Emulsion, has just changed their formula. On a lark, I bought a set of Elizabeth Arden 8-hour creams, including the Intensive Moisturizing Hand Treatment, and Body Treatment, and I really like them both. I actually think the body moisturizer does a better job, so I''m very happy. I think the fragrance might be an issue for some people - it''s not perfumey, but has a sort of eucalyptus-like scent. I have a really sensitive nose and was worried this would bother me or interfere with my perfume, but so far it hasn''t been an issue. I did wonder if people close to me could smell it - like in a grocery line, or someone sitting behind me in church. If you can get past the smell, the product is great.

Ditto to Aveeno; I live here in the high desert and use Aveeno daily. Costco sells 2 packs and I buy those. I do like L'Occitane for my purse, the small hand cream in lavender.

I used to lotion obsessively-morning and night. I think I''m too lazy now. Night especially b/c you loose so much moisture while you''re sleeping. I used to slather on Vaseline-not the lotion, just the lardish Vaseline-body and hands, and then put on old sweats and stretchy gloves and go to bed. I''ve not done that for years tho, and my skin''s not nearly so soft anymore. I use Palmer''s cocoa butter, Nivea lotion and St. Ives collagen and elastin. None of them are expensive, they smell good and keep me soft. Vaseline used to make a lotion that had some type of aha''s in it or something..stung when I''d put it on after shaving but it had a great smell and kept my skin really smooth. They don''t make it anymore.
 
I love Aveeno in the winter as my daily moisturizer -- it''s unscented so it never clashes with my perfume, and it keeps my skin so comfortable. If I need something more heavy duty, the large tubs of cetaphil moisturizing cream are amazing. You will be hard pressed to find another cream that is as thick and moisturizing, without being too greasy. It''s unscented as well. I also LOVE "Me! Bath Ice Cream" -- they''re not lotion, they''re bath bombs that have several types of moisturizing oils in them. They''re much larger than normal bath fizzies, and they leave my skin so soft I don''t need lotion afterwards. They smell great, so it''s a nice mix up with my lotions.

I don''t consider her lotion to be super moisturizing, but the AHA makes your skin SO smooth! It smooths and evens out any bumps or flakes -- the AHA is a chemical exfoliant and works wonders, I think better than sugar/salt scrubs. In the winter, I apply it at bed time every other day -- I slather on my moisturizing lotions after I get out of the shower/tub.

I use Curel Ultra Healing. I choose the Intensive kind. It has a slight smell that I really like. I love this lotion. It comes in large bottles and it has the pump. I will not buy it if it doesn''t have the pump. I use it everyday when I get out of the shower. I use it on my body and face and love it.

My lips also tend to get dry in the winter. I put Vaseline straight from the tub on my lips every night when I go to bed and sleep with it on there. My lips never chap because of this. Even if they have a bad day sleeping with the vaseline heals them over night. I actually wear the vaseline all year round because sometimes my lips dry out in the summer too from being in the sun.
 
Anything with shea or cocoa butter in it. It just glides on.
 
The only thing I''ve ever found that was able to fix my hands in winter is Origins Make a Difference hand lotion. It is FANTASTIC. When I was working at Starbucks, my hands were a constant wreck, and more so in winter. My sister bought me a tube for Christmas one year an I thought I had died and gone to heaven. It''s wonderful.

I use Cetaphil as my all-over body cream in winter.

I''m a big fan of the Bath and Body Works cream in the tubes, not the body lotion in the bottles. The body cream is thicker. I buy it up when the holiday sales hit and the semi-annual clearances. It ends up being really cheap.

If I have crazy dry skin, I really like cetaphil cream. Super moisturizing.
 
I actually like Johnson''s baby cream for the bath; I add my own gardenia petals or rosewater or sandalwood powder so I don''t wind up smelling like my baby cousins. It''s really thick but it sinks in and doesn''t leave that horrid oily film all over the skin.

Aveeno rejuvenating cream at night, and cocoa butter in the morning.

Kiehl''s Hand Cream is great for really chapped/dry hands & skin. My BF absolutely destroys his hands at work & this is the only thing that keeps that from cracking like crazy. It also works in very quickly, isn''t greasy & doesn''t have a strong scent to it.
 
i'm not partial to any one hand cream. I've tried avon, body shop and just plain 'ol generic CVS. I like them all as long as they're not scented!

I get those nasty bumpies on my lower thighs (near my knees), and on the backs of my arms- looks like i have permanent goose bumps. It's called keratosis pilaris. I finally found relief with the Lubrederm body lotion with the pink pump/writing. It has AHA or some other "acid" in it which helps exfoliate the bumpies off.
 
ChargerGrrl I have KP too, which is why I use the Paula''s Choice AHA lotion -- a high concentration of 10% glycolic acid. You''re right, it really does help with the bumps! If I am faithful with the lotion my skin stays smooth... if I start skipping, it really acts up.

I use BHA and AHA products on my face during the winter months. Ones by Philosophy and Clinique. Makes my skin look so soft and radiant.

I just started using L''Occitane hand cream and it''s amazing. I get super dry hands in the winter and I also don''t react well to certain lotions (maybe allergic to something in them?). But the L''Occitane is fantastic.

I might switch over to L''Occitane for body lotion but in the meantime, I use Vaseline Intensive Care.

lol Radiant, I do too! I haven''t found a lip balm yet that''s better than plain ole Vaseline.

Yes, it''s amazing how smooth my skin gets if i''m on track with applying this regularly to the problem areas. I''m better about it during the summer when legs and arms are more on display!
