Everyone does it... Everyone is looking to that quirky thing that you used to have when you were a child, or just cannot find
anything at the store anymore... Things that are bizzare and things that are plainly awesome. Aside of dealing with paypal, and
some of the sellers, I have to admit, ebay is like my escape to a different world. It''s like this immense flea market, if you find comb
it, you can find treasures, at any time of the day or night...

What is the coolest, most awesome or bizzare thing you purchased on ebay? Show me!!!

For me, one late late night, I found my 5.13CT Lemony pear. It was totally un-expected, and I jumped on it.
I had a flawless transaction, couldnt be happier.

I also found this antique toaster, you know the ones that open laterally? - a friend of mine collects them, so Ebay was a great place to find just that!

my best finds are children''s clothing...all new with tags and super cheap prices. Many times I get high end items for peanuts

I purchased a gorgeous vintage purple silk kimono for under $100! (and a silk obi to match!)

We found a Scooby Doo children''s lunch box shaped as the Mystery Van and it has wheels that turn and it can be driven around on the floor!

Ummmmm, my OEC. Yeah - couldn''t believe the seller accepted my offer. I totally low-balled him.

I got an awesome beaded formal gown for $20 last year (retailed for over $350 new). It was totally over the top, but I bought it for our last cruise vacation before having kids. I got sooo many complements on it!

And, yesterday, I received the Gazebo I bought on ebay. Yup, a gazebo! We wanted the one they''ve been selling at Costco the last several years, and finally submitted to our HOA for approval. By the time we got approval, they had discontinued it! So, off to ebay i went, and got one we like better for $300 less and no tax!

Woah!! A gazebo!!!

How much was shipping for this ?

I used to collect the my little pony toys. The older originals are worth a pretty penny and some are very hard to find. My best find was Shady, who is a hot pink pony with neon yellow hair. I got her for 2 dollars. She''s worth closer to 50 normally, and she was in mint condition

I got a little doll..sort of like the Anne Geddes where she dresses kids up like animals, but it''s a different maker. It''s a baby dressed as a shark. I LOOOOOVE sharks. And, the dolls name is Finnie. My brother couldn''t say Missi when he learned how to talk, so he called me Finnie.

I''ve gotten a lot of clothes for London for super cheap garage sale prices.

Unico! On DVD no less!

It''s rare and super hard to find, and I got it for $30 bucks shipped. It was my favorite movie as a child.

My ring I got for my 25th anniversary, I got it for a wonderful price, it was around 1/3 of what it cost new and I even got the cert and all the orginial paper work to the ring.

Palettes and palettes of bricks!!

Allow me to explain...

The covenant on our land title states that any sheds/outbuildings we wish to build, MUST be made of the exact same materials as the house. Therefore DH''s double-story man-cave had to be sandstone colour brick, with a black tiled roof. And of COURSE, the company that we bought our house bricks from, discontinued that colour not long after our house was finished.

So DH scoured eBay for thse particular bricks, and from about 12 different sources collected about 30 palettes! Enough for the shed and a retaining wall

Oh, and last week I spotted a skirt from Forever New on eBay that I''d seen in the actual store in town for $129 and LOVED... I snapped it up brand new with tags for $5.15.

Didn't a young woman recently auction off her virginity to pay for college?
IIRC an Italian business man had the highest bid in the tens of thousands of dollars.

(No I didn't buy it.)

Before I got over my addiction to buying vintage silverplate flatware, I got:

A complete set for 6, 1926 pattern, virtually unused in its original cardboard box with cool graphics, ~$34-40s.
A complete set for 8, 1940's pattern virtually unused in its original wood chest, $45.
A complete set for 12 (with fish knives!), probably purchased in the early 50's and used only once or twice (many pieces were still in cellophane wrappers), ~45. This pattern was manufactured until a few years ago, so I was able to pick up two extra place settings, extra place pieces, and serving pieces from liquidators for real cheap.
And then there was the set of art nouveau seafood forks(in a pattern I collect) that I got for the price of a single replacement fork... because the seller couldn't identify the pattern, and posted only a very fuzzy picture..

*** sigh *** I could go on but I'd bore you (even more

). I loved stalking for those hidden bargains, but I ran out of places to store the sets and family to give them to...

They don't hold a candle to that lemony pear, of course!

Shipping was $450, and the gazebo was $475. They might have had some of the price built into the shipping. It came by a huge FedEx truck with a forklift. The box was the size of a sofa and weighs 450 pounds

. The one at Costco was $1299, and at least this one was delivered to the house!

Two years ago, we bought a huge entertainment center. Walnut, well made, and the perfect size. It was a local seller, so DH went over, looked at it, I bid on it, and he brought it home! We think it would have originally sold for around 2k, and we paid $500

My 3.55 ct OEC. Got a crazy, crazy good deal on it; the seller had it listed as an SI1, and it''s actually a VS1 *with* a fixable chip, probably an IF if the chip was fixed.

Another amazing find was an Art Nouveau sterling piece I found. It''s by Kerr, which made some truly amazing sterling, on par with Gorham but rarer. It''s an opium stash box, with a smoking nude blowing smoke rings, surrounded by opium poppies. (An image of a smoking woman c.1900 was quite naughty, so this piece would have been rather risque at the time, oddly not so much because of the nudity but because of the smoking!) Since I collect all things poppy related, and any good Kerr at all, and any great Art Nouveau nudes, I was just about over the moon. It''s companion piece sold for $1000, but I got the box for $100ish, because the seller listed it as having some damage but when I got it, it was perfect.

Oh, another good one was a pre-Russian Revolution sterling dance purse, also Art Nouveau. It''s silk lining is perfect, it has a garnet push button clasp, and it has this beautiful hand engraved design. The seller didn''t know the hallmark was Imperial Russian, but I recognized it, so I got it for around $100- typically a good example like this one would sell wholesale (eBay price) for $600ish, and retail (like an antique mall) for $1000 ish. Not that I''m selling it!
