Together. I loathe grocery shopping.

I do, too, but sometimes I go alone. It''s hard to have a good time to do it since my DH works nights, but he knows I really hate grocery shopping so I will often make a list and then he will go buy it in the middle of the night when the stores are mostly empty of people hehe.

Honestly, he's more of a browser and I'm more of a list-maker, so shopping with him can get a bit tedious at times.

Aloros,
Lol, this describes my bf and me-- except that he's the diligent list-maker who wants to get in and get out. I like to make a list, think some more about what we need, and then walk down each aisle to make sure we're not missing out! He's always watching and asking, "Do we need x, y, or z?" "Well no, I just like looking..." So I tend to go shopping alone.

To all you list-makers: browsing must try your patience, but we just can't help it!

I shop by myself, for everything!

First of all, the man HATES to shop. Second, on the rare occasions when he has come with me, he takes FOREVER because he wants to go down every aisle.

I do not shop like that, Im a list freak.

Most of the time I do the shopping by myself. It''s my alone time every week.

I always go by myself. If Dh goes with me our bill is always higher as he loves buying junk.

DH and I almost always go together. It's fun!

I go alone...why should I make both of us suffer?

We do not find grocery shopping fun.

We ALWAYS go together. He cooks all the meals though. So, I guess he drags me out to the store every weekend

I usually go alone. DH hates a) shopping and b) being in crowded places, so grocery shopping in the city is his idea of the seventh circle of hell. He tries to hurry me along and runs off to get things on my list but comes back with the wrong stuff and has to go back, all the while whining like a little kid about wanting to be done. I usually end up leaving with only half the stuff on my list, and some of it not the stuff I was aiming for at all, because I just can't take it. I love grocery shopping in the 'burbs, where there are nice wide aisles and not so many people, but I have to admit that in the city it does kind of suck. I've become a list-shopper rather than a browser since living here because there's no way to comfortably dawdle with a zillion people around.

My SO does most of the shopping by himself. When possible, I join him - I love grocery shopping!

DH get up at the crack of dawn, and goes shopping to avoid crowds. I would love to go with him, but he is up before me
.
I do a lot of the cooking, but so does he.. we both love to cook. If am lucky DH whips up one of his Italian family specialties.

Today he made whole wheat bread with pumpkin seeds my fresh grown crushed rosemary. Came out great, we''ve been working on making a light crusty whole wheat bread- it''s not easy, but today we accomplished it - the trick, half flour, half whole wheat and special whole wheat yeast. It came out hot from the oven with fresh butter, oh yum! Otherwise it''s a leaden ton of brick, but we did it today.

HI:

HAHAHA that''s a good one--my DH going grocery shopping.....

cheers--Sharon

Usually DH and I do our month''s shopping together. But today I did ALL our monthly shopping by myself, with an 8 week old baby in tow! And I went to three separate supermarkets too - to get everything. I feel very proud!

BF and I shop about 50% of the time - I perfer when he comes because we can buy more.
We have no car so we only buy what we can carry home - this greatly reduces the amount of junk foo we buy

Depends. If it''s on the weekend, it''s just me, but we make out a menu in advance of what I''m cooking for dinner all week and I just get what''s on the list...and usually the essentials like milk, cereal, etc. that go without planning. Sometimes, though, we just go right after work and then it''s the two of us.

DH is our main grocery shopper and I love to go with. He does not like it when I go though. You see, he is too good to make a list and says that when I go I am a distraction and make him forget things that he needed to get. He claims that I am always a distraction. He especially hates taking me to Home Depot which sucks because I beg to go.

It depends. If I''m going to stock up and fill the freezer at BJ''s, then I go alone. The few times he''s gone, he gets too bored, complains I''m taking too long, then wanders off, I have to go find him (once I had to have him called over the intercom like a 10 year old...lol) I do that every 3 months.

The weekly pretty much is all the fresh stuff we like to have. He tends to do alone as he''s got a looser schedule than I do and I give him a list of what I need and he adds to it.

Ditto. Sometimes I can con one of my kids into going with me, but I usually go by myself. It was fun when my sister was living with us a few years ago; we would go together.

Fi doesn''t even give me the chance to go grocery shopping!!! So annoying. Since he''s in the restaurant industry, he''s always going to the store to pick up last minute things or ingredients to play with...and of course he can''t resist bringing food home too. Obnoxious because I feel like I can''t buy anything I want to eat till we finish what he''s brought home (I''m kinda OCD about not letting food go bad...)

on a more positive note, we always have a well stocked fridge/pantry!!!

I do this too. It was an annoyance for the first couple of months we lived together - FI would be wonderfully sweet and go to the store to stock up on whatever veggies we were running low on, and I was eating them as fast as I could to get rid of them so we could get other things I liked more.. I finally exploded with ''stop buying carrots! I hate carrots!'', and the poor dear had the most confused expression
39.gif

Haha Yssie! I totally chuckled out loud when I read this! FI likes to bring home snacks or loaves of bread (don''t think he knows about the produce section of the grocery store), but only eats a small portion...then the snacks/bread goes stale. Can you image how chub chubs I got trying to "save" the junk food and carbohydrates? I finally had a break down too. He''s improved...slightly

About 50% of the time I do the shopping myself, I don''t like the supermarket at all so I go through as quickly as possible.

If FI and I are already out together doing something else, we will go together, but he doesn''t move quickly enough for me.

So I''ve started sending him by himself, he''s very good at getting exactly what''s on the list and it saves me from dealing with the crowds that I hate so much.

We go together, although sometimes it''s annoying b/c DH spends too much time mulling over things like which cereal to get.

I prefer to shop solo! I check out the aisles for specials that are not advertised. In fact I picked up a few Perdue roasters this morning for 69 cents a pound that I put into the freezer. (got soaked doing the food shopping this morning, but I go at 7:30am after I drop DD off at school and the store is empty)

When Dh shops he brings home cookies, chips, soda. When I ask about the veggies, he says he forgot. I tell him it was on the list and he says "There was a list?!"

Both. We like going together, but sometimes it is more convenient to stop alone to get fresh bread or whatever we need if it''s on the way. I find that we usually get more snack things if my DH is with me.
33.gif

I usually just go with my 3 year old while DH is at work.

we try to go together when we can, but usually my BF goes as he''s free during the day more (much easier on a Tuesday morning than Saturday afternoon!) he''s a great list-maker & coupon-user and has an amazing ability to leave the store having paid 1/2 the original bill. me? I grab things off the shelf, buy expensive things when they''re going on sale the next week, etc. disaster!

He is good picking 1-5 things for me. Going together is never a good idea as he tends to pick ''odd'' things to ''try''
4.gif
I spend much more if he''s with me.

I would love to go by myself but since we don''t have combined finances at this point and take turns paying each week he''s required to come with every other week. I swear we walk out with half as much food when he''s there because he is so anxious to get out and we always forget something.
