ARE they KIDDING?

I remember my parental units talking about how this fad or that fad was on it''s second trip around...it was so hip at the time I didn''t believe they ever could have lived in a time that was "COOL". Besides the NOW/IN version was improved and more modern. As my peers would never have chosen the original run. Felt we knew style and couldn''t be lead into wearing something so ridiculous and less refined as my parents did.

Yes, I now can say I have seen a few returns of the fads...BUT ARE THEY KIDDING? This was never NEVER good.

"You can''t touch THIS" is going to get a second chance?

To those of you that know "what" I am talking about...DISCUSS...please...help me through this difficult time.

Yesterday, I saw a girl on the street wearing thigh-high boots and Daisy Dukes. I ask you ....

It''s like there''s a War on Pants, and it''s just developed a third front (leggings in lieu of pants as the first, obviously, and the Hammer pants as the second).

I''ve been disappointed in the return of a lot of scary fashions lately, and this one is particularly scary.

Luckily I never end up seeing most of them IRL. I would laugh at anyone I saw wearing these!

I don''t think those are kewl. At all.

These pants are cute, if you want to look like you''re wearing a diaper.

That''s why I only wear dresses!
I create my own "hippie" fashion... lol, I hate pants. THey are so restricting to me. I don''t feel good in them and I am always self conciencious when I wear them... So I gave up on them...

And the diaper filled pant look is another reason why I don''t wear any!

Yuck!

Some things are best left in the past.. especially most of what we wore in the 1980s!

Sara, you can''t make a statement like that without posting modelling shots of your Hammer Pants....

LOL, Lorelei! I had a pair of dark green hammer pants (not spandex, thank goodness!)! There are photos, but fortunately they're not digital!

I'm pretty sure any episode of "Dynasty" would give you a good idea of what I looked like in the 1980s (except my bling was mostly fake).

Big gold jewelry
Big glasses
Shoulder pads (in everything)
Big hair
Bright primary colors mixed with black
Neon colors mixed with black

I have to stop now, I'm getting nauseous

LOL!!!! Your Dynasty description is perfect, that would describe me too - add to that list big perfume.....Poison, Opium, Giorgio.....

I''m pretty sure there is supposed to be a corrolation between the depth of the crotch and the height of the bangs/hairdo.

At least there was when I was in middle school...my bangs defied gravity and my pants proved gravity.

Oh, the perfume at that time was "heady" wasn't it? My favorite was Nikki de Saint Phalle. Just one whiff of that brings back the entire decade of the 1980s!

Too bad it's been long ago discontinued.

Sara,

Alj wears N de Saint, you can still get it online, this seller has it if you ever feel like getting some more....

I haven't tried it but I have heard some describe it as smelling a bit like Christmas trees?

Yeah, I remember. But they weren't a combo of harem pants and leggings. This just looks like you have a load in your adult diaper.

I also remember, as a kid, how much I hated the stirrup pants my mother made me wear in the winter (early 60's). And then I wore stirrups in the '80s. Or how I wanted to wear shorts instead of 'pedal pushers'. And now, capris are my summer wardrobe staple.

We've done the whole hippie/boho thing - - again. And the disco fever double knits. I guess we'll have to revisit the whole Madonna as child prostitute look too, sooner or later.

BTW, I have a 1940s magazine I bought at a vintage/antique/junk store. In it is a photo of Lauren Bacall (she was a model then) in a midriff baring shorts outfit, sporting thong sandals that looked for all the world like a pair of Tory Burch sandals. You could easily wear the same look today and be right in style.

I loved the 80s !

The Big Hair
The heavy make up
The bright colors
The cool high heels

And the girls didn''t look too shabby either..........

You have got to be kidding me! Those weren''t good the last time they came around. The buyer that brought those into the store should be talked to!

Just ignore it and wait for it to go away, it will don''t worry. The same thing happened a few years ago with the gouchos and even now with the damn leggins. I wore leggins in kindergarten and I refuse to wear them as an adult unless I''m exercising.

Yikes! Why do certain things have to make a come back?

Thanks, Lorelei, It's good to know I can still get the lotion (which I actually liked quite a bit) and the eau de toilette. Yes, Niki de Saint Phalle smells very green, very herbal. These days I wear un Jardin en Mediterranee by Hermes (can you see a pattern here?).

Its Hammertime!

Yes I remember and it was awful the first time around.

However, Hammer rocked the gold lame pants.

And the pant in the link make that woman look like she has a load in her pants. Awful awful style. Awful the first time around.

Thanks, now I''ll have that song stuck in my head all morning!!

I can''t believe those pants!! Are they serious?? Haha, Holly... I totally agree - it''s a dump in the pants look!

And they''re sixty bucks to boot! What a rip!
