This Terrifying Glass ‘Skyslide’ Is Not For The Faint Of Heart
Do NOT look down.

Jimmy Kimmel’s beloved sidekick can barely keep himself together in the video above as he prepares to ride Skyslide, a new attraction that opened in LA over the weekend.

The slide is affixed to the edge of the U.S. Bank Tower, 70 floors over downtown LA. It’s 45 feet long, about four feet wide and made with glass just slightly more than one inch thick. The chute is said to be so sturdy that you could “hang two blues whales from the slide, and it wouldn’t budge,” John Gamboa, a vice president with OUE Skyspace, told CNN.

But that doesn’t make the ride any less terrifying

It's the frugal consumer in me that says "no." The ride is only 40-something feet long, with a one-story drop. It doesn't even wrap around the building! I figure it's probably over before you get to take in any of the scenery, so no... it's not for me.

But it does look very cool... maybe for a special occasion... ;))

I have an insane fear of heights and just looking at the picture makes me woozy. Were I to try the slide, there would be a tell tale brown streak as evidence of my passage :D

Sure!

Fun!

I wouldn't pay to do it, though.

I don't know much about geography, so please correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you people have earthquakes in Los Angeles???

Nope, nope, nope!

NOPE.

OMG I was about to write YES even though I am scared (terrified) of heights because I like to challenge myself if I know something is completely safe so I go on roller coasters and parasail etc because it challenges me in a safe (though scary) way. However then I read Trekkie's comments about earthquakes and I though whoa she is right. So unfortunately I am taking a pass on this ride. But it looks like incredible fun... though terrifying. :appl:

If anyone takes this ride please let us know how it felt and how much fun and how scary it is. :appl:

Yes! However I'd be easily dissuaded should there be a line up or have to pay for it haha.

I've also ridden the rollercoaster on top of the stratosphere in Vegas, probably way scarier (though you are strapped in!).

I showed DH and we both agreed it looked like fun and that we'd have enjoyed experiencing the slide *if* either it was a longer ride or a cheaper ride ... $33 each for going sideways basically one floor is too overpriced for us (not that we couldn't afford it, just that it wouldn't be worth it at that cost).

The bold is exactly how I feel! If it were longer OR cheaper I would totally do it (and it's only about 1.5 hours from me). But at this point it seems overpriced for how short of a ride it is. My DH's brother and his GF just did it yesterday and said it was fun, just FWIW.

No. We have fire lookout towers in the wilderness area here we can climb for free! No sliding down, of course, though.

Not a chance. I have been to several towers with glass floors and I had to leave the room.

Yes, I would. But to be worth $33, the ride would have to be much longer.

Thanks to everyone for posting. I agree about the cost. I'm not sure it would be worth the fee. However, it might be a novelty to take people to who are visiting from out of town? :appl:

I don't think I would do it, but DH says he would!

Someone posted this on Facebook and there's no damn way I am watching any videos of that, nor would I go near it.
