Wedding Working on my STD''s!

I can''t WAIT to send out our save the dates. Our wedding is in July of next year, and we aren''t sending them out until late Sept/early Oct (we have lots of people coming in from New York) but we''re starting to design them now, so we can print them off ourselves. My FI is an architect, so he has an eye for design. I originally wanted just a plain STD telling when it was, where it was, etc. but after reading about it more here on Pricescope, it seems that many people only really keep the ones that have a photo of the couple.

Having said that, the decision was made, and here''s the photo we are using! My only concern is that it doesn''t show our faces right up close. If you guys think that would be better, please let me know, and I''ll post other photos we had taken for this purpose. But I love the pose!

We will probably print them on cardstock, and use a design similar to this one I found online. We will attach a magnet to the back so they can put them on their fridges if they choose. Please let me know what you think!

I love your photo but think it might become too small if you use it in the save the date you like. you don''t want to write over your photo in white instead? or if you really want to stick to what you have planned, I would just cut out your upper bodies and use those in the photo.

I also ordered my Save the Date magnets way in advance. they are waiting in the closet to finally be sent out in January. so far away...

Here''s our latest mockup from Photoshop of the Save the Date card. I used a different picture, and the fonts will be more vibrant and easier to read obviously. I would go in there and change the font but I don''t know how!

So now, which pic would be better...this one here or the one of him picking me up? Zoe had a good idea of zooming in on the first picture, but I like the overall look of him picking me up. Otherwise it might just look like we''re hugging??? Hence the reason we''re trying with this other picture. Okay...hopefully I''ll get more comments! Thank you ladies!!!

the mockup looks great! Would you be able to do another one with the original photo so we may compare? My concern with the first photo is that you will look too small.

Unfortunately, I can''t! I went into Photoshop to try to change out the picture, and I can''t figure out how to do it. I''ve never used the program before. And my fiance doesn''t get home until tonight. Thank you for your input CDNinNYC!

I need your HONEST opinions...if the damask doesn''t look good, tell me! I''ve been looking at this for awhile, but I''m not so in love with it that I can''t change the overall layout.

the one with him picking you up and I don''t think you look too small at all. I wish FI and I had a picture of us that was that cute!

I''m not in love with the damask though ... I think a picture like that needs a simple plain color background.

All three pictures are so adorable! I think I like the 3rd option the best, since it is a nice size and distance from the two of you. I really love the one of him picking you up [

], but I am not sure it works because of the size. The damask is beautiful, but maybe a solid color background would make it look less "busy."

Whatever you choose your STDs are going to be beautiful- be sure to let us know what you decide on!

I personally love this one with him picking you up! I am getting married July 11, 2009 and plan on using a pic of my fiance dipping me in our save the date. you can''t see our faces straight on either but its a pic of us happy and together, laughing and in love you know? i love yours. !

I wasn''t sure exactly when it "right" to send the save the dates........................ you are going to send yours in Sept/Oct?

I think your idea sounds cute as well! What a fun picture!

I think "protocol" says 6 months before, but I figure with flight prices, out of towners, etc, 3 months earlier than that can''t hurt. I had a friend send hers out 11 months before. It was almost like an announcement as well bc she was tired of everyone asking her when the wedding was! In my opinion, save the dates should be fun and not about following any "rules". Now if I could just get my mom to understand that...

I like mock-up 3. What's stopping me from choosing #2 is the photo of you and FI looks stretched out. Maybe if you can crop the photo so it's more square, it would look better? I really like this photo of you both. Perhaps something like this...

I like the photo of him lifting you, but unless you can crop it so it doesn't distort the photo, then that is a really great photo is use as well.

I like the date underneath the photo. Very nice.

Lanie, I know the "Rules" are so tough and sometimes i think its my wedding and i can''t follow them always.
I think sending ithe STD''s 9 mo ahead is ok. and I love the idea of ones with a pic, especially the magnet ones so people can see your annoucment and pic everyday! they love stuff like that, at least i know i do! LOL
