I took my job full well knowing that "admin assistant/office admin" really could just be called "chick who takes the full grunt of every little thing" but today takes the cake. Here i am following orders by sending out a invite to all our employees in the area for a free BBQ lunch, and this is the response i get
"I do not understand why __ has a party during the week when other firms have there parties on the weekend.
Since I will be losing money to attend, I have to decline.
Working late to make up the hours creates a hardship on my family.
I really wish I could go to the picnic"

seriously. Like this person would go on the weekend either??

okay, done with my vent :)

Aw that''s pretty unreasonable. I understand if the person is frustrated, but come on. So uncalled for.

I am sorry!

I use to work at a place where people were like that all the time, nothing was ever good enough. I am sorry.

i just love how they talk about losing money TO ME. I mean, the money they lost in one day is more than 3 weeks of my paycheck. like i care lol

UggghhhhH!!!! MAN do I feel you! I was a receptionist at an engineering firm for 2 years and that was my life. I actually got so depressed working there that I had to quit. People take EVERYTHING out on you.

I actually had a blog on my MySpace chronicling the events that angered me. Worst Job EVER!

I''m pretty lucky that at least i don''t have to deal with these people most of the time (only twice a year). I just find it funny. Like complaining to the admin is really going to change things? I just work with a bunch of people who are smart, but not so much with the social skills. I worked at a gym for women (curves) and i would have the ladies rolling with the stories i tell from this job :)

thank god for TV therapy

That email reminds me of our school attendance secretary (I teach high school) who sends out emails around the holidays about how us teachers need to make sure to tell our students how important their attendance is because she hates trying to keep up with all the absentees. I mean really, every person has the right to complain about their job, just make sure it''s to the appropriate person and not someone who can do nothing about their problems and has their own problems to worry about!

Uh, a simple "No" would have done fine, yes?

LOL...a free BBQ? I''ll take his place!

Oh, no, that''s horrible!

I was appointed to our department''s social committee (ugh!) so I''m the one in charge of sending out witty and fabulous emails about our incredible social gatherings. I get a whole range of nasty responses from "As if! Why would I want to spend MORE time with you people?" to "Don''t you know that I have my doctorate classes on Thursday nights? Why would you schedule something for that night if you knew that? I''d like to speak to someone about this situation."

Talk about not shooting the messenger.

I feel for ya, hon. Bleh. You don''t deserve that. I''m sorry.

Oh man - that cracks me up. Its like the same group of people! I agree, why shoot the messenger. Personally, if it was up to me, i wouldn't give them a BBQ. I dont have money to pay for it

Oh well. Some people just have issues. At least i can laugh about it, right? Or at least thats not their response to a personal invite (like a Bday party).

I'd love to reply back to his email saying "Do you really think your response was appropriate?"

!! another great story from my work - This guy wanted to get a set of office keys (um, no!) becuase he couldn't get into work during regular business hours do to traffic. Could not make it in between the hours of 8-5?? not even arrive at 10?? seriously. complaining about traffic to the person who HAS to be there 8-5 (thus always in traffic)? NOT COOL. man oh man. as stephanie tanner would say... "How Rude!"

People are so clueless and rude

Haven-I''m on social committee too at my school and people always say "I coach, I can''t possibly make it on a Friday" or "Why can''t you have it when I can make it?"

Well excuse me, let me just take your ENTIRE schedule into account before we plan a stupid little social function...BUT then if we don''t have events-people complain we do nothing...AHHH you can never win!!
