This story is from 2019 so perhaps it has already been talked about on PS before. I had heard about it even last year but a different article that did not actually have a photo of the gem. This article has the picture and it's pretty amazing. She paid 10 pounds for this ring! Would you have kept it or sold it when you realized what it was?

The diamond looks big, but I doubt it really weighs 10 pounds.

I remember this.

And for anyone who needs a laugh tonight - keep scrolling, once you finish the article, and enjoy some of the other headlines

If I’d paid 10 quid for that and it turned out to be worth a fortune, I’d have sold it and bought something more wearable.

It’s huge no doubt but not very attractive in my eyes , would sell and buy some really nice jewelry and bank the rest

Bwahahaha!! The lab diamond one is funny! I stopped after the step-brother headline lol.

I have seen this and I feel so bad at the amount Sotheby's took! I don't even know if that was a fair price!

I know. She also seems to be going on a spending spree with the funds.

As much as I could use the money, I think I might just bite the bullet and wear that thing.

I saw that. It's nuts, because while I didn't do any comparison shopping I feel like a stone of that size is so rare that it should have garnered more funding for the sale.

Also it may seem like a lot of money, but it really isn't in the grand scheme of things!

I remember this story. Apparently she wore the ring everyday for about 15 years as her 'costume' RH statement piece.

And I am AMAZED looking at the state of those ancient claws that the bloody thing never fell out of the setting!

The whole story gives me anxiety. :eek2: I keep wishing that she had found out earlier. It was amazing that she did eventually have it evaluated and got to enjoy the spoils, though.

I definitely don't require a huge diamond in my life at the moment and can find much joy in much more modest bling, so I'd have sold it as well. =)2

Just realized my typo but couldn’t edit - they should have photoshopped the SORE of the person’s hand.

Looks small compared to this one
