With the PS changeover, has anyone noticed ...

I read it and loved it.

It think it reminds us that PS is largely an opinion based consumer forum.

It is an educational forum yes, but not in a scholarly peer-reviewed journal type way.

It cuts through all the advertisig hype that surrounds diamonds and gets strait to the nitty gritty buying a rock.

Keep It!!!!!!

I know that PS has also become an excellent social club for many of us, but first and foremost PS here to independanltly assist consumers buy a nice diamond for a fair price. I think the About reflects that.

It is a relic from the old administration and it will be something that is updated soon.

I''m glad to hear this

Maybe because I''m a PS relic too, but I''ll miss that. I loved Leonid and Irina and it just rings of them. I know they''re long gone but it was their spirit that gave PS its overtone, which still exists today.

I just read it and well....it really turned me off.
Maybe because I was not around back then.
Maybe because I don''t think of myself as a graphic designer disguised as a dumb consumer (and yes I did note the overtone as sarcastic and not serious, but it still left a bad taste in my mouth).

I too probably would not have joined PS if I had first read the about page.

just my honest opinion....

I''ve been an official member since ''06 (I lurked for a while before joining). That''s not too long but long enough to know Leonid''s and Irina''s personalities a bit. The "about us" page fit their personalities and I''m not offended by it. It''s only natural that that page would change now that there are others at the helm.

Been here since 2004, and knew Leonid and Irina pretty well. So I got their sense of humor.

I think it''s only right it will change once we go back to the new version, Andrey can put his own stamp on things..

I never read that page before. Personally, I found it a little distasteful, but I''ve only been here for about 3 years and never knew Leonid or Irina, so I''m missing the pieces on that one.

I dunno - personally I''m 100% MORE happy with the current admin. I think it would be fun to keep that page as a non official easter egg or something (still there, need specific link or labyrinth of clicks to get there), but I am happy letting this new group do their thing because so far I am vastly happier now so they have to be doing something right. I do miss Irina''s photoshop skills - that woman had mad skills and a wonderfully creative mind. But there are things I don''t miss more than I miss that.

I didn''t say it should stay. I didn''t say I loved the old admin more than the new one. But yes, Irina was definitely more involved in the chat of the forum and while she stayed diplomatic, probably had some opinions about posts (and certain posters) that showed through.

I''ve never seen this before, but honestly I kind of like it. Definitely smacks of the old administration. For some reason it reminds me of a job posting that Leon had on his site a couple of years ago--anyone remember that?

Yes I do. Leonid and Irina''s was vintage them.... Can''t explain it, but did get it.

Leon, not so much....

Taken as a whole - I like it. I did see the page way back - but never really read it as I was focused on learning about diamonds back then.

It''s clearly the work and attitude of L & I; and it fits to a T what they were trying to do.

Of course, the forum has changed in a decade - and perhaps its only fitting that a different version is put up.

But, Please... Really Please.... Provide a link to this "original" about page with a note on its historical relevance.

I do remember that. Have to admit, I found that rather chuckle worthy.

That about page is one of the first things I ever read on Pricescope! I lurked for a long time before joining.

I think it''s great.

I''ve never seen this section either. Honestly, I was put off by it. But, I''ve only been around for about 1.5 yrs, so I may not "get it".

But I agree, I think it should be changed to reflect the new admins.

I''ve never seen that page before. I thought it was kind of tongue in cheek and didn''t offend me now, but I think it may have hindered my joining if I had read it previously.

I do remember that. I thought that was kind of funny too.

Yeah I agree Kaleigh. I like it.

I couldn't even get through the page...it just seemed so immature or something...it really turned me off and I don't think it reflects what my experience has been here at all.

But - I don't know the previous admins so I don't associate the "tone" of it with anyone in particular...but if I had read that page before joining I probably wouldn't have...

I don''t suffer fools gladly and neither do the folks here at PS. I think that page sets the scene; don''t come here without strapping on your big boy/girl pants and don''t try to pi$$ on anybody''s leg and tell them it is raining; that crap does not wash here.

I remember a certain ''pedistool'' incident with a great big smile as an illustration of PS power.

It might be outdated now, but it was totally appropriate for the times....and I am sure it has served it's purpose many times over.

Ditto CharmyPoo and Then Mara dittoing Charmy poo!

The thing with me is I ABHOR MISSION STATEMENTS. They are a bunch a Gooey PHOOEY. This is a lighthearted fun way of bashing the stuffy pretentious baloney normal MS. Which the M should really be replaced by a B in many cases. (oops).

You are known by your works/your actions...don''t force me to read through a bunch of well chosen words hoping to express to me what you stand for. Just DO IT. Be what you are. People will recognize it and reward you with their patronage.

Just do it. Pricescope just DOES IT. No need to MS or "BS" me! If you can have a little fun along the way, I am in!
