Small world is right! I went to Sutherland -- our house was on Monroe, just across from the end of Sutherland St. I knew some kids from Irondequoit; we used to play them in basketball. When I was there, Sutherland was the only high school in town.

Sounds like a terrific kid day! One they'll remember all their lives. We're taking my Siberians out to play; they're in heaven. Stay warm & dry, all.

I drive by your house everyday! How funny! My kids will go to Sutherland

Iluvcarats --- HEY, sounds like you do go by my old house. It's a big yellow stucco one a little back from the street. Super old place. I absolutely loved that house. And it had a ghost -- whether he's still in residence, I don't know. Actually, 2 different ones were seen. I bet by now you've gotten your quota of snow from us, or are in the process of getting it!

Yenny -- no, didn't know Leslie -- she was a little after my time there. Sounds like a great girl. They remodeled Sutherland a few yrs ago, I hear it's unrecognizable from when I was in h.s.

How many are in the Charlotte area now....Tacori, Princess, Diamondseeker & Autumn...Deb, you too? Would LOVE to GTG!! We have a mini-PS right here!

It is, as Tacori said, icy & impossible today. No more precip on the horizon but everything is coated in ice. Yes, I bet Monopoly Jr. can get old! Good luck! Not supposed to warm at all till Thurs. Can't even walk the dogs.

Speaking of dogs, a friend's 2 goldens got loose last night & haven't come home, very worried. They're sort of my dogs too from when she was getting divorced & we took care of them frequently, fabulously sweet boys. They have NEVER done this before & of course pick a time when nights are 20 deg. to do it. If they get loose, they usually run around for a couple hours (always come over here too), then go home. We're hoping someone, not knowing who they are, is keeping them warm. Only one had a tag (dumb friend!) & he could get out of his harness easily, so may have lost it. Posters up this a.m. all over the area. Heartbreak!

As long as we have electricity, I'm having fun!

I know the house! I pass by it all the time on my way to Wegmans unless I take French Rd. I live btwn NAZ and SJF.
small world!

Any idea what the roads are suppose to be like tomorrow in CLT?

Jewelfreak, we have had a few GTGs in the past but it has been way too long. Maybe we can plan another one soon!

Tacori, I'm in if there's another one!

Iluvcarats -- took me a few minutes to figure out SJF & Naz, then the light dawned. You live near our first house in Pitts., moved there when I was 4 -- on Shelwood Dr., in the Alpine Dr. area, across East Ave. from Country Club Dr. By the time I was in high school we lived in the village. Small world is right! Recently I ran into a new neighbor, here in the back of beyond, who lived on Country Club for 18 yrs. I almost fell over! She was there after I had grown up & left, but still, amazing. You can't hide anywhere!

I live on the country club side of east ave. I was walking my dog today and he started chasing after a fox! Luckily he is a moderately fat Lab and didn't have a chance at catching it. I have seen deer, raccoons, hawks, even flying squirrels, but never a fox. What # high school reunion is it for you? Did you go to college here?

Wow, cool, a fox!! Red or gray? We have both down here, though I've only seen red ones -- had one in our backyard last spring, gorgeous fellow.

Oh gosh, it's about my millionth-year reunion! I feel like we lived there before Pittsford was incorporated (1769, wasn't it?). No, went to college in Westchester county, outside NYC, but Mom was still in the Monroe Ave. house then. She eventually sold it when my sister graduated from high school & moved to an apt. in Pittsford for several years before blowing town altogether. I hadn't been back in about 20 yrs when I went to our last reunion 5 yrs ago -- they've done a wonderful job of preserving the good atmosphere in the village & not turning every square inch into housing. It's more crowded than it was, but where isn't? I read about the proposal to build apts. under the Monroe Ave. bridge -- hope that got aced, haven't followed the outcome. Developers always win, what am I thinking?

How long have you been there? How do you like it?

Great to see some other NC people out there. Well my snow only lasted 1 day, all gone now :-(

So the roads are completely dry but the falling ice/snow from other cars, trees, electric lines, etc was annoying! Kept hitting me in the windshield. Sun is out so I think the ice will disappear soon.

Autumn, you're ahead of us. Snow still on the ground since Monday & some of the ice is gone but not all. Cold still. Supposed to be warmer tomorrow, the end of our 3-day winter.

We've been here 22 years except for 2 years in SoCal. I think that the housing project is in the works. I will keep you posted. We even have a Starbucks now :))

22 years, so you're old-time residents. Takes a generation not to be a "newbie" in Pitts. If NY state taxes weren't so horrendous I'd consider going back to the area; it's so beautiful & you can still get out into the country.

Darn, I was afraid that project would get okayed. When do towns ever turn down something stupid?

I love the Pittsford area....I used to live right off of Monroe Ave. when I was in grad. school...

The kids have no school for the 4th day in a row...I made it out of our neighborhood to get to the store, but it was dicey. Once I got to the main roads, they were ok, with a few exceptions...definitely not ready to put my kids in the car and go anywhere yet....did I mention that I'm going stir crazy??? :twirl:

Jewelfreak - The taxes do suck, but the schools are great so at we get something for the money. It is beautiful here. We love the architecture too. We live in an old Tudor. We've only been in Pittsford for 6 years, so as for the social scene I couldn't tell you. It's all country club driven and we don't play golf, but there is something for everyone here. My DH is really into mountain biking and my kids ski and snowboard. I actually like the change of seasons. When we lived in CA I never knew what time of year it was because everyday was the same. It was really nice living nears the mountains the desert and the ocean all at the same time though. CA is beautiful, but I grew up on the East coast and it never felt like home.

Yennyfire- You sound like my sister. She is in Atlanta too and she called me at 7:30 and said "OMG school is closed again for the FOURTH day!" LOL Maybe you should hang out with her. Here it snowed all day, over a foot but the kids didn't get a snow day. The irony is that after school activities were canceled so ski club was canceled because of too much snow. Kids not happy....

Too much snow for skiing?? Isn't that an oxymoron?? Too funny! If your sister was within walking distance, I'd be there! If I thought I could pull my two kids on the sled for the 2 miles (2 hilly miles) to my sister's house, I'd do it in a flash, but there's no way they can walk that far, not to mention that my sister is really trapped in her neighborhood and is running out of food (I offered to go to the store for her and then walk it in, but she declined...her kids are enjoying all of the plain noodles!)....

I have a feeling we won't have school again tomorrow...there's still no safe way for the buses to get in/out....and we have Monday off for MLK Day...and did I mention that DH leaves for a trip early Sunday??? Did I mention that I've put on 4 lbs. this week from all of the wine and nibbles I've been having to get through the day???? Aaargghhh! Calgon, take me away!

yenny, are you sure you have Monday off? That is one of the make-up days here so the schools will be open on MLK day.

Hmm, I'll have to check...our school website still lists that they have Monday off, but that may change....I sure do hope so!
