I am in Central Ohio and we are suppose to have freezing rain and sleet from 7pm tonight till Wednesday and then the wind is gonna be gusting upto 35mph on Wednesday, I am not a happy camper, it is going to be ugly and I work from home so if I cant work because the power goes out then I have to drive into work :errrr: This is one massive ugly storm, everyone in its path stay safe!

We're supposed to get about ~20" of snow between tomorrow and Wednesday night. I'm in northern New England.

Dang that is alot of snow, but I would rather have the snow then the freezing rain!!! stay safe!

Yeah, freezing rain isn't fun at all. I think tomorrow's snow is supposed to be drier/lighter, but Wednesday's supposed to be the heavier stuff. I'm done with winter.

Me and you both!!!! I am tired of it :nono:

yeah, even here in the swamps of Houston, we are expecting frigid cold for us. Low 20's and possibly some sleet/snow one night.
Hubs and I have our battle plan in action, bringing plants in and wrapping Christmas lights around some new baby palm trees!

So, what do you do if there is 10 inches of snow on the ground in the morning and another 6-8 expected during the day? Do you go to work and not worry about getting back home? :?:

My hubby's office is about a 40 mile drive from home, all country roads and I am super concerned about the commute. He said he's going to try to go, IF he can get out of our subdivision, which is never plowed right away...but even if he can get there, with another 6-8 expected during the day, high wind gusts and temps below zero, I'm more concerned about how he'll get home! :|

How bad does it have to be to call in 'snowed in?' What do you guys do? We have a brand new car, but it's not a truck or SUV...I'm afraid he's going to get stuck somewhere or ruin his car trying to get around!

Bebe, I will keep my fingers crossed for your baby palm trees that they are snug as bugs this week. I'm in Houston, too. Last winter we lost our beautiful foxtail, and it really broke my heart!

I got a kick out of looking at my iPhone's weather forecast and seeing the snowflake graphic for Friday!

I have a 4 wheel drive Jeep, I dont get stuck to often, but it slids on ice just like everything else, lol. If it was me and the snow was that bad I would stay home, make sure you hubby calls before he leaves, the power could be out and the office closes! I work for a very large insurance company and they have closed in the past and if it is bad enough they will close tomorrow and possibly Wednesday. I work from home so its not an issue for me, however when my power goes out I have to make that time up, which means I will have to work this weekend, yuck, but its better then going out in it, lol

Bebe, keep those baby palm trees warm and safe!

We lost 2 Pygmy palms last year and these new Pygmy babies were planted to replace. We never get this much cold so I
felt sorta safe replacing the palms with the same . So lights and multiple layers of sheets !! Sorry about your Foxtail.
So much for Global Warming.

I work from home too, so it doesn't bother me either.

DH's last job was only 8 miles from home, but he'd still get stuck, trying to get OUT of our sub! At least he could work from home at that job, can't do it now. But I think it's going to be near impossible for him to get down the street, let alone all the way to work, if we have 10 inches by Wednesday morning. And I heard they may actually get closer to 20 inches where he works! There is a B&B inn in the town nearby the office, but I have to wonder if it would be booked...and no hotels or anything else nearby for him to stay there overnight if he got stuck there.

sometimes I wish grown ups got 'snow days' too! I would think most places would choose to close, when facing 20 inches of snow! Guess his place isn't going to close though. Ugh.

We're on the edge of the icing predicted across the Midwest...it rained like hell a couple of hours ago and now the driveway and front steps are sheer ice. I threw a ton of salt out, but that will only help for so long, until it rains or freezing rains again. No fun! I would much rather have snow!

I am in the Southwest and we got about 1 inch of snow and a strong chance of more tomorrow. I am worried about the Midwest and the people in the East. Hope everyone is safe. The East has had waaay too much snow. ;( be safe everyone.

11:50 Central time, and we are deep into our first round of sleet (it sounds all crunchy right now and absolutely howling), to be followed by about a foot of snow. They're predicting up to five-foot drifts in places. Crazy for these parts. But we have plenty of milk, eggs, general food, coffee, TP, booze, gasoline, and a generator. ;)) I think we're about as set as anyone can be in these circumstances....

Southern Indiana here...another round of hard rain that will inevitably freeze before morning. We don't have a garage with this rental house...fortunately I am not scheduled to work tomorrow but FI will be up bright and early to go into his office. Some nasty weather we're having.

Ksinger--and everyone else--wishing you all a safe trip to work tomorrow or just safe travels if you have to go out. Be careful and stay warm. Also hoping there are no power outages!!!

So far electric and internet is till working, icy as heck out there, cant tell how much there is its too dark, but I do know that I started to go get the paper and decided it is way too icy, I am a klutz and I would fall and break something  I sure hope the power and internet stays on, schools are closed here today, probably will be tomorrow as well, stay safe everyone!

Roads are clear here but sidewalks are treacherous...

doesn't bode well for drivers or pedestrians.

We have a snow day tomorrow and we'll have one tomorrow too. I'm surprised they cancelled school today (even though we could get up to 6 inches). I thought we might have an early dismissal. Tomorrow's a given -- we'll get a ton of snow. Who knows what will happen on Thursday. Maybe a 2 hour delay. At this point, I'm almost convinced we'll be in school until July.. ;(

Thanks Skippy! I hope everyone stays safe!

Woo-hoo!!! Finally, I get my snow day! up to around 15-18" here in SE Michigan! :appl:

:appl: :appl: How're you spending the day?

I have no idea where in the #$@! we are going to put this snow. Our driveway has been plowed so many time that the snow piles are dwarfing the trees.

My "project" when I get home is knocking as much snow off the roof as I can before we get another round.

I love winter. And snow. But I've had my fill.

It's crazy, isn't it? Are you guys going to get the mix too or just snow? It's all snow for us. 20-25" was the last I heard.

Based on the weather report I saw this morning, we're on the cusp, but that may change over the next 12 hours. I really hope we don't get ice. Blah!

Yeah, the projected amounts north, where you are Zoe, are insane.

On a side note, our power tends to go out somewhat easily, so I bought dinner that I could cook over a wood burning stove. I'm hoping I can use my real stove, though...
