The group threatened to vote with their wallets but I have a better idea of what they can do with them -- it involves shoving -- and I still respect their right to their opinions and their right to voice them. I just don't agree.

Wait, what? Are they mad at JCP because Ellen is gay, or because of her small jokes?

I<3Ellen.
But Ellen won't make me want to shop at JCP.

I don't care who works there.

uh...theses moms really need to find something better to do, or find a hobby

Nope, in fact ill buy more from them to support the Ellen decision.

No. I love the new JCP.I love that Ellen is their spokesperson. I have a whole new outlook about the JCP brand. She has brought sexy back to an outdated old brand and love the vision that the new CEO has for this company. I could shive a git that Ellen is gay, this is 2012, and if some have a problem with that fine. But I think she has brought a whole new fresh coolness to this store.

That response is SO 30+ years ago!

I too, grasping at straws, thought the protesting would be over her small jokes "faux pas," which I thought were well done in her inimitable style...In this day and age, it never dawned on me that people would take offense at her sexual orientation.

Totally!! +1 to what kaleigh said!

I will not boycott. But I don't shop at JCP now. Their stuff is not to my taste.

I have to admit I don't like Ellen. I don't care that she's gay. I just don't like that she's such a wiseass and I think she has crazy eyes. I also think she's kind of twitchy. I am completely unbigoted because I dislike her for herself, and not her sexual orientation.

If the definition of being completely PC is to see beyond someone's gender, race, sexual orientation, religion, nationality, etc., and judge them only for themselves, then I am there with Ellen (and everybody else).

ETA: As for the "million" moms, give me a break. There's about 20 of them clustered together in some suburb somewhere, in a fearful little knot. Ten bucks says the one that started it is gay and afraid to admit it. Isn't that how these things usually start?

Perhaps the two (and counting) who voted, "Yes" will tell us why they feel it is an issue.
Though I doubt they will.
The warm, safe anonymity of the voting booth, is so well, warm, safe and anonymous.
Nobody can see who you are.

Madam Bijoux :wavey: It's so good to see that you're posting again. :appl:

I totally agree that Ellen enhances the value of JC Penny

I remember when she 'came out' and was fired by the network. What a bunch of short-sighted ignorant fools they were!

The saying that success is the best revenge is appropriate here.

What iLander said, completely. I'll add that I'm SO TIRED of discussing what people do in bed as being important in any way, to my life or anyone else's except their own. I just don't give a cr*p & am sick to death of having it the main topic about a person, one way or another.

No way!! I love Ellen:)

Me three!

Er, what is JC penny? A department store right? Does it exist in the UK?

HI:

Ellen, no.

Tom Cruise, maybe.... :loopy: ;))

cheers--Sharon

I haven't shopped at JCP for years and don't follow Ellens career enough to have an opinion on her. But the idea of some close minded women sitting around passing judgement on anyones sexual orientation at this time in history is ludicrous! I just want ot say to that group :Wake up ladies, millions of people are gay and It's their business not yours! Open your sad, closed minds.

Neither Ellen nor the outraged women have any impact on whether I would shop at JCP.

The women need to get a life and stop focusing on something so trivial that likely has no impact on them.

I remember when this happened. The next time I went to the mall, I bought some underwear in honor of Ellen. They were good unders, so I've since bought more of the same. Take that, One Million Moms.

Nope! I love Ellen- she is funny and fresh. Personally I think the CEO is doing awesome!

I read somewhere this was also the same group ( or led by similar people) that tried to, and with success in some souther states, have HP banned out of school librarys.

Exactly. It was a good move by the store, despite the Million Bigots.

They hired Tom Cruise? I wish he were going to work there instead of playing Jack Reacher. That has had me upset for months.

I love Ellen-so no.

And Deb, I feel the same way!

I LOVE Ellen!

I campaigned for SO LONG for DH to get me an Ellen hoodie and sweatpants, and that man just didn't make good on it! (The hoodie is expensive, so I'd never just buy it for myself. But as a gift? BRING IT ON!)

I've never shopped at JC Penney, so hiring Ellen doesn't affect my shopping habits. Unless they sell her show's merchandise in the store. I WANT THOSE SWEATS!

While it seems insane to me that people would protest a store because they hired Ellen, unfortunately I can't say it's totally surprising. There are a lot of a-holes out there, and this group of them seems keen on self-identifying.
