Is it a totally different celebration, or based on the same theme? Just curious as I didn''t realise it was a different date until reading some posts recently/
It's still a harvest and thanksgiving celebration - perhaps slightly less emphasis on pilgrims and first nations, and more emphasis on celebrating fall's bounty and giving thanks for our blessings.
It's still lots of eating with turkey, pumpkin pie, brussle sprouls, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, cranberry sauce, peas and carrots etc. (In my family we have mashed carrot and turnip too).
Canadian thanksgiving is in October because that's when our growing season ends and all the veggies are ready to harvest.
November is definately more of a winter month up here, and if we waited until then, there'd be nothing fresh to eat.
Cheers,
