Why do freshly baked doughnuts smell so good in the morning

Unless I have already eaten 3 that day (donut day Wednesday!), in which case, yeah they do smell pretty gross.

Oh my gosh, I know what you mean!

I made apple cider doughnuts a few weeks ago and they smelled amazing when I first made them. By the end of the day the smell was enough to make me sick.
The doughnuts only taste good right away, too.

I''m right there with you, Soocool. I don''t like doughnuts either. It doesn''t mean that I''ll pass them up if they''re right in front of me, but I generally don''t like them.

I can only do freshly baked. In Boston, only certain Dunkin'' Donuts actually make them fresh every morning (then ship them out). We will only go to those DDs who bake them fresh in-house. Just this morning D woke up and went to get me a fresh-baked donut while I was in the shower. Very sweet--he AND the donut!

Adorable. I just remembered that I have half a donut locked in my filing cabinet. I wonder if it is still good...ewww. no. It is not still good. Now I really want a donut.

To stop thread jacking my opinion is that a donut is yummy anytime. I love sweets at all hours.
