Who wants to share their poetry?

Does anyone write poetry? Use a journal? Do creative writing for fun, not for a job?

I''ve never really written outside of HS and college English courses. But for some reason (mortality staring into my half-century eyes, perhaps?) I''ve gotten the urge lately to put thoughts on paper. Or computer.

Would anyone like a thread to share this kind of thing?

If so, post here.

Here''s the one I wrote today; I''m totally bummed by the current weather:

Wind, again.
Maybe rain.
Grey and blue. And dark and dim.

My soul needs sun.
Warmth. Toasty and comforting.
Caressing cares, melting moods.

Summer''s on its way.
Dragging its feet, when I want gallops.
Anticipation leaves me restless.

June is the best month.
Carefree. Casual. Just the beginning of
Blue skies and cotton puff clouds.

Bright and golden.
Mornings coming early. Evenings ending late.
Extended twilights

Remember summer?
Bugs in jars. Front porches. Homeade ice cream.
Mosquito bites and Keds.

Summer.
It comes every year,
Helping us celebrate our inner kid.


I didn''t really review how I wrote it, after I wrote it; I just decided to put down the first things that came to mind. So, teachers out there in PS land, how did I do?

I'm not a teacher, but Holly, I wanted to say I really like your poem. Parts of it really made me 'feel' feelings from summers' past......thanks for sharing.

When I''m bored I''ll put anything into haiku form. You could tell the classes I didn''t like in college because all my notes for them were in haiku.
