... as I just read ... Dictatorship 101! :nono:

CNN, NYT, LAT, Politico, Buzzfeed. I'd also heard BBC was blocked too.

Thankfully Breitbart was there.

Might, just might the banned news outlets change their coverage so they get access?
After all, new outlets are private businesses, and eyeballs bring in advertising dollars.

Hmmmm ... wait and see ... we need a popcorn-munching emotie.

Dictatorship 101 is right! Wow!!! Trump can't handle being called out on his lies.

How is it that everyone can't see how wrong this is.

They probably gave the BBC slot to RT.

Let them all in. It doesn't matter to their coverage anyway.

At least in this article the WH has named intelligence sources. CNN still has unnamed officials for their part.

http://www.cnn.com/2017/02/24/politics/white-house-denies-wrongdoing/index.html
Once again, Trump's position... The leaks aren't accurate, but they will do great damage to our nation? Ummm...right.

Trump banning members of the press does more harm than good. He is trying to avoid the difficult questions. He is trying to avoid the press outlets that are covering this Russia story.

He looks guilty as sin.

You changed your post? Because I was going to ask how that article does more harm than good?

The leaks aren't accurate yet CNN still uses them to further an agenda. NYT has done the same thing. See a pattern?

Edit - it appears that the leakers may have an agenda also?

It is Trump's reaction to the leaks that tells all

Tells what? Leaking from intelligence agencies is criminal and dangerous. I have said this before.

Edit - A president is rightfully allowed to be angry at leaks from these and other agencies. Especially if they prove to be false information that is intended to undermine the administration.

What leaks aren't accurate, exactly? As far as I know, we aren't sure what is vs. is not accurate.

Trump's reaction to the leaks makes him look incredibly guilty, and him banning members of the press will just make the press more determined to get to the bottom of everything. It's an incredibly silly decision that will come back to bite him. Not to mention that yes, it's a page out of dictators 101.

And, the press is allowed to have unnamed sources....I don't understand why that's suddenly a problem. Many officials speak w the press only because they are guaranteed not to be named in the report.

Obligatory. I swear, there's one of these for everything. That's why people believe he projects so much of the time.

Oh, but of course.

The subject was raised at an event hosted by Politico in December, before Spicer had been named as President Trump’s press secretary. Politico’s Jake Sherman raised the question of how a Trump White House might deal with outlets it didn’t like, given that some had been blocked from attending Trump campaign events.

“One of the things that the Trump campaign gained notoriety for, and was criticized for, was banning reporters and banning outlets,” Sherman said, noting that Politico was one of those outlets. “You’ve said, I think, that that’s not going to happen . . . ?”

“Look, there’s a big difference between a campaign where it is a private venue using private funds and a government entity,” Spicer replied. “I think we have a respect for the press when it comes to the government. That is something you can’t ban an entity from.”

“Conservative, liberal or otherwise,” he continued, “that’s what makes a democracy a democracy versus a dictatorship. I think there is a vastly different model when it comes to government and what should be expected, and that’s on both sides.”

He does what he is told. They should not have kept those media out, they are their own worst enemy.

Obama never threw anyone out of a press meeting. Leaks are dangerous, but it seems that Trumps reaction is wrong, find the leaks. Fire every Obama holdover. But when our president starts to control media access that is a step towards fascism. Trump needs to shut up and find the leaks and move, if they are lies, there isn't anything he can do about it.

Considering this administration's tendency to disseminate "alternative facts", I'm glad there are leaks that give us an idea what is actually going on in the White House. At this point, I think the leakers are doing the country a service: without the leaks, Flynn might still be the National Security Adviser even though there was a non-zero chance that he could be a target for blackmail. I personally want my presidential advisers unencumbered of such baggage.

ETA: this exclusion of specific news organizations from a briefing by the White House Press Secretary is insane and a complete misstep. I fervently hope there will be a heavy backlash against this frankly dictatorial move. This is one more evidence that Trump only means to serve his constituents and not the whole of the United States.
