Which would you rather have?

If someone offered you two choices for an engagement ring:

a smaller diamond set in a beautiful blingy halo setting (say 1 carat) or

a bigger diamond set in a plain solitaire setting (say 1.4 carats),

which would you choose and why?

Assume the color, cut, and clarity are the exact same for both.

I like simple, sleek settings and I am not much into bling, so larger stone for me.

Solitaire for me. While I love halo''s, I''m just not sure I''d want it forever, and with a larger store, you can always add a halo later if you want more bling and finger coverage!

It will be more timeless - the blingy setting will look so "millenium" in 20 years, whereas the solitaire will retain style. Shoot, I''d even take the smaller diamond in the solitaire!
