If you could only have a few pieces of jewellery, which would you choose? Five seems too few, so let's say under 10. I'll go first

1. My EC bezel engagement ring that I wear by itself.
2. Diamond studs.
3. 8.5-9mm freshadama necklace.
4. 9.5-10mm freshadama studs.
5. Multicolored Tahitian keshi necklace.
6. My silver cuff bracelet made by a Haida carver.
7. My argillite raven pendant by a Haida carver that I wear on a silver wire necklace.
8. BC Jade bracelet.

I think I'll stop there, but if I could have a 9th, it would be an amazing, one-of-a-kind OEC or Tranny!

It's funny, cuz I've been "culling" my collection these last few years and have now close to what I think are the "essentials", he he...

So let's see:

1) 3.02ct F VS2 ering (I'm still thinking of upgrading it to a larger stone; but if not, I'm totally fine! ) + 3.75ctw eternity band
2) 3.50ct Pear-shaped alternate ering
3) 3-stone another alternate ering (which I may re-size to wear as a RHR)
4) BGD studs (currently listed for sale - again not fussed if they're sold or not)
5) Pendant, which I may turn into studs if I ever sell the BGD studs/ upgrade RHR band (item no 7) to get a matching stone to
6) PP watch
7) a 5-stone band RHR
8 ) Bracelet
9) Multi-coloured Tahitian and SS pearl necklace

If I don't ever get anything else or upgrade, I'd be totally fine. However, chances of me upgrading one or two items are fairly high ! :wink2: :twirl:

Well, shoot. 10 pieces only.

Engagement ring
Wedding band that you can wear with it
5 or 7 stone standalone band
Diamond studs
1 diamond necklace
1 pendant and chain
1 diamond bracelet or watch
Pearl pendant with diamonds
Pearl earring enhancers (although a Sapphire three stone RHR would probably be my choice over this)
Diamond jackets or diamond enhancers for the studs

If I HAD to pick.

3 stone diamond ring

Cushion diamond ring with pave

My OEC diamond pendant (only coz it was a steal, I bought the 0.8 ct GVS2 for $700)

My diamond line necklace (wedding present from inlaws and over 15 carats)

My diamond bracelets (another gift from in laws and about 7-8 carats each)

My diamond and ruby necklace and earring set (wedding present from my parents, a lot of carats)

Diamond chandelier earrings (parents again)

My unset 4 ct emerald

My unset 1 ct ruby

I'd have to sacrifice all my yellow gold (over 20 bangles, all my necklaces and earrings) just to save the bigger diamonds and coloured stones ;(

ETA: oh crumbs. This means I couldnt have any of my coloured stone rings, or my rose cut diamond bracelet either :errrr:

I only own some of these right now.

The ones with the asterisk are in progress or wishlist.

And I don't want to give up my emerald stacker.

Heh, I think I HAVE chosen:

-engagement ring

- chunky bezel pendant

- milgrain bezel earrings (6 of 'em, given the piercings, but if we can count two earrings as one piece of jewelry, screw it, I'm throwing in the set as an uncountable)

- Art Deco ruby line bracelet

- carre eternity to stack with my wedding band

- baguette eternity on my thumb

- anniversary ring

- turquoise and gold Tiffany necklace

- rough diamond rings, for variety

See, those are the pieces that are insured and at home - everything else lives in the safety deposit box! If we're going up to ten, I think I get one more ... perhaps it's time for me to get some pearls .....

1. My e-ring
2. Set of eternity bands (cheating...counting as one!)
3. Diamond studs
4. Cross diamond pendant
5. 5-stone RHR
6. My mikimoto akoya pearls w/studs (cheating again)
7. Diamond huggies (thank you Phoenix  )
8. Diamond Pendant (on my wish list)
9. DBTY Bracelet
10. DBTY necklace (also currently located on my wish list)
11. Last wish list item and over the limit - Chopard Happy Watch with Five Floating diamonds...probably a forever wish lust resident

oooh, this is tough. If I had to narrow it down...

1. 2.93 GIA GVS2 ER and shared prong eternity (approx 2.3 carats) WB (can I count this as one since I always wear them together? :cheeky: )

2. Fat Diamond Pave band (I cannot remember how many carats but it's a lot)

3. Rolex diamond watch

4. Cartier Tank watch

5. Sapphire/aquamarine/diamond gold necklace- an antique reproduction and it is a real statement piece

6. Blingy diamond hoops (rarely wear them because they are weighty but oh they are so blingy and really make a statement when I am wearing them for special occasions)

7. 1972 Cartier Black Opal ring that my mom gave me

8. Diamond huggie earrings (great for everyday) though I do wear a pair of diamond drop halos much more often...hmmm...not sure which ones I would choose

9. Diamond bracelets (I have a few and they look so good together that I am counting as one... :cheeky: )

awww, it's too hard to stop at under 10! I left out all my other great pieces...so many earrings and necklaces and rings... :((
I don't like this game...

Yanno what we need here...we need pics of everyone's pieces!! :appl:

I will have to pass for now though but when I have time for taking everything out and photographing it with my phone I will try (remember I have awful photog skills
 )

I want your in-laws! :cheeky:

Ooh fun thread! I have been thinking of downsizing because I have pieces I just don't wear.

1. My ering and anniversary band
2. My EC RHR
3. My heart shaped pendant with my original ering diamond in the center
4. My .72ctw YG studs
5. My .50ctw WG PC studs
6. My tsavorite garnet RHR
7. My blue YG sapphire RHR
8. My Kentucky blue WG sapphire RHR
9. My diamond dangle earrings
10. My heart diamond RHR in a WG sapphire diamond mounting

This was more difficult than I thought it would be. I didn't even list a bracelet or more than one pendant.

It was more difficult than I thought it would be. I easily got to 6 or 7 and then had a whole lot more I wanted to add on.

I've been thinking lately about how I've purchased jewellery over the years without much thought to whether or not they are pieces that I'll wear for a lifetime, and if I was being smart about it, pieces that I could sell easily as they are high quality/collectable.

Lately too, I'm going through this 'keep it simple' phase of my life. Too much stuff wears me down. Clutter is driving me bonkers. Clutters up my physical world and my emotional world as well.

Sometimes I take it even further and ask if I could do it all over again (just jewellery) which 3 pieces would I sink my money into. I could have 3 really fabulous pieces for all of the fluff I've invested in over the years. Hell, bring on a 5 carat OEC, but I digress...

But, I also believe that you do not have to spend a lot of money to have lovely jewellery. Those 3 pieces could be simple, and elegant and still cost under 1K. My Haida and other First Nations pieces are good examples of that. Wearable art that makes a big statement and is very affordable.

1-wedding set
2-martini studs
3-solitaire pendant
4-pearl studs & necklace set
5-silver everyday earrings (either balls or knots)
6-everyday silver necklace
7-nice watch
8-fancy chandelier earrings
9-fancy necklace to go with the earrings
10-big right hand pave diamond band

I think that for me ten is too few,but I don't think I would want more than 20/25 pieces at most.It would cover pretty much every occasion I need, and allow me variety without too much clutter.

1- Diamond stud earrings
2- OEC pendant
3- Mahenge ring with trap sidestones
4- Grandma's aqua ring
5- Chrysoberyl ring in sterling silver
6- Liquid Flower Pendant
7- Small diamond ring my parents gave me on my 18th

The remaining two slots are empty and reserved for fun coloured stone rings. The diamond studs could do with a small upgrade.

HI:

ER
eternity ring
emerald cross
emerald earrings
rolex
Links of London long pearl chain
Tiffany Cross
Diamond bangle
Kwait diamond earrings
Pomeletto Prehnite earrings

Altho I have downsized my collection significantly in the last few years, this "post" was more difficult than I thought cuz I love my 24K and 18K gold bracelets that I wear all at once, on my one wrist!

ETA: That said, if I were to only own ONE piece that decision would be easy: it would be my emerald cross (from Columbia)--a gift from my DH when my son was born. It is the only thing he has ever given me he choose all on his own and it was a TOTAL surprise. It still gives me shivers when I think about it--and I am not sentimental!

cheers=--Sharon

I so hate to follow these posts with such great items above! But it is fun to think about!

1) Tiffany repro e-ring with Tiffany Legacy eternity ring

2) Vintage 5 stone diamond band (but may get an upgrade someday)

3) ACA diamond studs

4) Ebel watch

5) Beaudry right hand ring (probably will be set with sapphire)

6) diamond milgrain bezel pendant with recut family stone (may reset)

7) Tiffany diamond cross

8 ) Mikimoto Tahitian pearl pendant (and matching earrings from PP)

9) would like DBY necklace or huggie hoops

10) would like AVC or OEC ring

I have some nice things that I rarely wear like a diamond tennis bracelet, pearls, etc. so I did not list them. The things above are the things that I care about the most, but I do wear some other things on a daily basis like my Roberto Coin Tiny Treasures cross pendant and Longines watch.

1. E-ring
2. Eternity WB
3. Diamond studs x 2 pairs (one for each hole)
4. Diamond bezel pendent * (I want one of these!)
5. Everyday pendant (for me it's my Tiffany Butterfly)
6. Blue Topaz RHR
7. Diamond RHR w/ sapphires
8. Rolling ring RHR
9. Classic watch (my dream is a Rolex, I have a Raymond Weil and a Michele right now
10. Pearl set

And my extra...my plain WB that I wear to work...technically counts as my WB,right? :)

Wow, that would be a tough list for me. I have multiple piercings in my ears, so I'd be in trouble.

1. Wedding rings (not quite married, but plan to use my eternity as a wedding band, so I'd be good to go).

2. Pear pendant

3. Diamond studs- my 1.3 bezels, and various smaller studs for other piercings.

4. Leo 3 stone pendant

5. Princess cut band

6. Oval rhr

7. Princess cut 3stone

8. Pave three row band

9. My bypass rhr, that's sized for my middle finger.

10. I'm cheating a bit for this one: I'm counting my two heirloom pieces as one, as I don't really wear either, but would hate to give them up. I have a white gold and star sapphire ring from my mom, and a huge (to me) amethyst pendant from my gramma.

Hmm..
1. VC Ering
2. Leon Mege pave wedding band
3. Bezel diamond pendant
4. Tsavorite RHR
5. Jadeite bangle
6. Tanzanite pendant
7. Star sapphire RHR
8. Black opal RHR
9. Imperial garnet RHR
10. OEC RHR

...I think. I'm a colored stone fan, so I have a lot of RHRs! I seriously need to pare down though.
