Hi everyone, my husband really loves this local artist, so I want to get him one of his paintings for Valentine''s Day. I know that he liked all of these when we saw them at a local gallery, but I''m not sure which one to choose - I would love to hear your opinions!

Here is Sandstones:

Here is Black Sand Island:

Here is Deep South:

I love the color combo of the sky in deep south.

Which room is this likely to go in? I like #1 but I prefer abstract paintings. However if this was to go into a den or somewhere where I wanted solititude & serenity I might go with #3.

Definitely Deep South! I love it!

The Deep South is the one that''s speaking to me.

I went with Sandstones, but that''s because negative space kills me lol.

I like the sandstones because it has the most movement and flow. Seems like it'd be Feng Shui!

ETA - I do agree that it depends upon the room you're considering. If you're looking into putting it in a room where hours are spend relaxing, a silent still painting like #3 would be ideal.

Sandstones. I would get tired of the other 2 over time and have issues of interpretation (my own) with them. I see suburban garage doors in #2, and a floating house in #3. To me Sandstones is perhaps some secret location. Art is so subjective though.

sandstones.

is the only one that "speaks" to me.

i like supporting local artists and i''d buy this one myself for myself.

Also #3 doesn''t have any windows so it''s kind of implying private and stay away. lol It''s not an open welcoming home.

I like Deep South, but as others have said, definitely for a quiet room. It''s mellower in color and in subject matter. The lone house on the hill.

I like Sandstones as well - I think it''d be a great statement in a living room, especially with that bright blue running through it. It''s much more lively and more balanced. Deep South has a very strong focal point.

#2 is ''meh''. See, I forgot the name already.

In my own house, I''d probably want Deep South of the three, because I like art displayed in our home that''s relatively "inactive" - I''m attracted to pieces that seem very still, quiet, or intimate.

But the painting that I like the best just as art is Sandstones. It''s pretty cool, and I agree with what others have said about how it has a lot of movement, and I like the vibrancy of the colors/how they''re used in this one the best.

Black sand island - I like the colour combinations

I really like sandstones. Idk why but the colors of Deep South kind of make me feel sad... Really couldn''t tell you why haha but it just does. I can see how it would be interpreted as serene but that''s just not the affect it has on me personally.

Sandstones has the nicest feel to it
Deep South looks like a house floating away in a flood to me
The third one is too unbalanced

I don''t know art but I know what I don''t like

i love #1

I was surprised I thought everyone would agree, but nope, I am in the minority.

Sandstones reminds me of folds of flesh, weird I know.
I liked the Black Sand Island. I just do. It appeals to me
I do not like the lonely house in Deep South

Yuck, but yes, now that Radiant has said that Sandstone reminds her of folds of flesh, she is right! lol Maybe keep looking around for other prints?

There''s something about the first painting that really draws me. I love #3 as well, but #1 is my favorite.

I *really* like Deep South for some reason. I would love to put that up in my own house. Sandstones is in second place, but I feel like it's very south western ... Something that might look good in a house on a ranch in New Mexico, but wouldn't really fit into your typical eastern home, if that makes sense. But it's up to you whether it would work your house.

This is fun!...I like Deep South, colors are very soothing. Overall feel is restful and peaceful.

Agree. I don''t mind negative space per se, and while the Deep South appealed to me at first glance, I got bored with it very quickly. Sandstones kept me looking.

I prefer Deep South out of the 3 but I find the lack of windows a bit depressing. I would probably end up drawing them on myself and ruining the whole picture

Ooohhh... I LOVE sandstones- it''s so fluid!

Hi guys! Thanks so much for your feedback. Believe it or not, I was originally leaning toward Black Island, but now I''m thinking maybe it''s not suc a great idea ...

I really like Sandstones too, but I think it may be more my taste than DH''s ... I think that he''ll really love Deep South for a couple of reasons - he prefers less abstract art, so I think the fact that there''s a recognizable house there will make it look like it''s a picture of something to him - for example, he doesn''t really care for my Rothko prints.

Also, the room we''re planning on putting it in has a theme with two paintings that are already in there, and I think that Deep South will fit the theme the best. Honestly, he really loved all of Rayhart''s landscapes, so I think he''ll be happy with any of them - I will let you know how it turns out!

Thanks again for your help!

Hope you find the perfect painting.

It''d probably be easier for us to give advice if we could see a photo of the wall! It''s hard to visualize without the whole setup.

I picked number 2, but it looks like I'm in the minority. Which one do you like the best, since you will no doubt be looking at it too?

ETA...Nevermind, you just answered my question 2 posts ago. :-)
