Living in New Orleans during Mardi Gras is so much fun!! Of course, dilemmas abound about which parties to attend, where to set up camp to watch the parades and how you're going to carry a drink and catch beads.
Most years DH and I attend what's known as MoMs Ball. It's an all night affair, costumes are mandatory, it's funky and fun. It isn't glitzy and glamorous, you stand in line (most years in the freezing cold) trying to buy tickets, wearing some skimpy costume, but once you get inside you have a great time. This is the Ball most of our friends attend.
However, this year one of our friends said she was tired of it and thought it wasn't necessarily worth attending. No one else had expressed interest and so we found another option: Bacchus Ball.
Bacchus Ball is a formal tux and ball gown affair. We've not attended and don't know anyone who does, but they usually have some big act entertainers, the King this year is Andy Garcia. It's still an all night affair of drinking, dancing, mingling. So given that I had informally secured Lundi Gras (the day before Mardi Gras) and our friends weren't interested in MoMs I had the opportunity to purchase tickets to Bacchus Ball; $300 tickets, mind you.
The two Balls are on Saturday and Sunday nights respectively.
Now, said friends are going to MoMs Ball and have costumes ready plus I don't have Lundi Gras off!
I know, I know what a horrible dilemma!
