Ok, so DD borrowed (actually confiscated) my Brian Gavin diamond huggies. I am thinking I don't want the same thing, so I am eyeing Whiteflash's diamond hoops. I just don't know if I want them in yellow or white gold. I am also thinking 1.00 tcwt unless someone can convince me otherwise. Also, does whiteflash ever have specials, because if they do I would consider going larger. In the meantime yellow or white gold?

I like yellow, but that's such a personal choice. Those earrings look great!

What gold do you wear most often? I wear whit gold so for me the white gold I would choose but sometimes I mix and match golds too

I vote white gold!

I agree, YG vs WG is a personal choice and could be based on logic or emotion (still lovin' the Star Trek thread earlier!) but for me, based on what I have the most of... it would be WG.

As for the size of the stones, I really recommend browsing the thread DS posted - she tried on 3 sizes and they all looked amazing, but it depends on the look you are going for and the lifestyle you lead.

I prefer it in white gold and like the look of the 1.5ctw better. Yes, they did have a special on these huggies for Valentine's Day. Check out DS'er's post for more info/pics:

Thanks for the link. I think I may want the 1.5 ct also. I wear a lot of yellow gold, but would also consider these as an heirloom piece and my DD loves white gold. Plus never considered that if I decided to let my hair go gray at some point,I may look better in white than yellow gold. (wish I could see them in yellow gold on a "PS ear model"). So, if I want them in 1.5 ct I may wait to see if WF has any specials.

I love the earrings, and I prefer the yellow gold.

I love the white gold. And very important- make sure the weight of whichever earrings you choose is easily tolerated by your ears. I find that to be the most important factor in determining comfort when it comes to earrings. I have amazingly blingy earrings- dazzling and I rarely wear them because they are too heavy (for me). My max comfort weight is 5 grams total. I bring this up just in case this might be a factor for you too.

I didn't realize it until a few years ago and I had already purchased some gorgeous earrings and it was too late. None of my heavy earrings are obviously heavy (I mean I bought them and they felt comfie at the time) but they are heavy enough that I would worry over time they would stretch my earlobes and even perhaps break the piercing. One of my colleagues today just shared with me that she is concerned and looking into plastic surgery for her earlobes. She is only 30 but has been wearing heavy gold earrings for a long while. That surgery is expensive. :knockout:

Enjoy the search! I vote for the bigger the better diamonds as long as the weight is good for you!

Thanks for posting my link, mom2boys!

It was a hard decision, but I decided on the 1.5's because I didn't want regrets later. When you get ready to buy, I'd call and tell them you'd like to know when they will be on special again and see what they say. I am a big fan of specials and sales!

The reason I would say white gold is because even on many yellow gold pieces with diamonds, the diamonds are usually set in white gold or platinum prongs. I just think in these huggies you want the metal to be as invisible as possible because you want to really just see the diamonds. So that is why I'd choose the white gold.

Mine are not heavy at all. I believe blueiris originally ordered them in platinum and found them to be too heavy, so she had them remade in 18k white gold with palladium alloy. So that is what I had mine made in once I decided on the size. It was about $125 higher but I didn't want to take the chance of handing them down to a daughter who might have a nickel allergy. Sort of silly because I have other regular wg earrings!

Anyway, good luck on your decision and I do hope you get some! I liked the 1 ct and the 1.5!

white

White! And I like the 1 tcw pair just as well as the 1.5 tcw pair -- so would probably be cheap & get the less expensive pair (on special if I could!)

HI:

I have the 1 ctw in w/g and I think they are "perfect".

cheers--Sharon

Thanks for all of your opinions. I have decided on the 1.5ct in white gold. At my age I want blingy! and I am sure DD will try to borrow them from me from time to time. However, I have to wait until next month to order them since I will be away for a few weeks :(( .

Diamondseeker, I think this statement is what sold me on the white gold. My E-ring is set in yellow gold, but the prongs are white gold.

I was also worried about the weight, but since you assure me that the 1.5ct are comfortable I'll go for bigger. I want them blingy enough to wear everyday as well as for special occasions. Thanks again! :wavey:

My gf wears 1.5 every day and they look spectacular on her! Wish I had a pair!
