I was a Kappa Alpha Theta at Purdue University. Great times had by all![]()
No, but it was huge at my school. Most of the people I knew were part of the greek system. It wasn't my thing personally, but I can see the appeal!Date: 10/4/2009 5:14:31 PM

I was (still am, actually!) a Chi Omega. I was the philanthropy chair (our official charity is Make A Wish Foundation).
For the non-US folk, this is the ''Chi Omega Symphony,'' which gives an idea of the purpose of my sorority:
''To live constantly above snobbery of word or deed; to place scholarship before social obligations and character before appearances; to be, in the best sense, democratic rather than ''exclusive'' and lovable rather than ''popular''; to work earnestly, to speak kindly, to act sincerely, to choose thoughtfully that course which occasion and conscience demand; to be womanly always; to be discouraged never; in a word, to be loyal under any and all circumstances to my Fraternity and her highest teachings and to have her welfare ever at heart that she may be a symphony of high purpose and helpfulness in which there is no discordant note.''

I always thought it was funny to hear peoples'' stereotypes of each house. They seemed to be self-fulfilling prophecies at my school, so the divisions were very clear. I spent very little time on the row, but a lot of my friends were involved and the labels were hard to escape. I''d love to hear what peoples'' houses were known as at their school!
At my school...
Pi Beta Phi - the hot girls who had a bit of drug trouble
Gamma Phi Beta - the girls who loooooooved themselves a keg
Tri Delt - normal girls
Kappa Kappa Gamma - pretty girls who were very serious about school
Alpha Chi Omega and Alpha Delta Pi - the girls who didn''t party much (if at all)
Alpha Phi - the NICEST girls on the row
Kappa Alpha Theta - the hottest girls on the row
Delta Gamma - second only to KAT in hotness
Kappa Sigma - hottest guys on the row
Lambda Chi - the metrosexual guys
Alpha Tau Omega - the ''date rape frat''(I wish I were making this up, that''s actually what they were called)![]()
Sigma Chi - the PARTY frat
Zeta Beta Tau - the NICEST guys on the row

I''m a Delta Zeta, Kappa Epsilon Chapter.
Isn''t it?? I thought people were just being mean/judgmental... but no, the stereotypes were almost spot-on for the houses as a whole. Of course, there were always the sisters/brothers who didn''t line up with everyone else, but the exception proves the rule - right?Date: 10/7/2009 7:58:47 AM

Musey, it''s funny how the stereotypes begin and then seem to attract people of that nature, and it just perpetuates itself. Our Sigma Chis were crazy partiers too!
NO WAY!!!! It must be in their constitution or whatever...Date: 10/7/2009 8:50:41 AM
