Musey, does he like to celebrate after an accomplishment, or relax and reflect? Has he taken trips before, that you know he enjoyed?

I voted Monterey/Big Sur. We were on vacation in April in the Carmel area. We spent a day in Big Sur and LOVED it! I can''t say enough about how gorgeous it was. I have also been to Sonoma/Napa and that would be a fun trip as well. It is pretty there too, but not the same kind of "pretty". As far as food, I don''t think you can go wrong in any of those places.

Wine tasting in the Napa area, for sure. There''s plenty to do and it would be nice and relaxing after the grad program is finished!
DITTO! I''ve been all the places listed, and for me, Napa rocks! I''m a bit of a weirdo, but Vegas feels like an airport... like a weird limbo place w/pools. Though vegas is a lot of fun, the hustle bustle, and energy always reminds me of an airport. I like kicking it back, and just enjoying the company I''m in, and Napa/Sonoma do that for me.

But it really depends on your bro!

He went to and loved Thailand, but that''s about it.

I don''t have much history for him and his accomplishments

at least, not enough to know what he''d most prefer, that''s why I''m trying to give him a good range of options from which to choose. I do know that he doesn''t tend to be a relax-on-the-beach type, he''d rather do something a bit more active (even if it''s just walking around exploring a town).

Musey -

Both Napa and Carmel/Monterey are lovely. If the trip is in June, keep in mind that summer is usually the foggiest part of the year for the Monterey Peninsula, the same way summer is the foggiest season in SF. if he''s had enough of fog, Napa would probably be a better June destination. And Napa is a great destination if your brother is a foodie. The Culinary Institute of America has a facility there and it was great fun to go and have a student-cooked dinner. The food was excellent.

Hi Musey!

Hey, I''m graduating too! Can I come?!??!?!

I have to second the suggestions that fleur-de-lis made earlier. If your brother is a foodie, the Napa/Sonoma area has some amazing restaurants. Thomas Keller''s French Laundry truly is a memorable dining experience (though some say it''s too stuffy). It would be very difficult to get reservations, so Bouchon, his bistro restaurant, would be great too. And even more casual is his Ad Hoc, another very cool dining experience as the menu changes daily. Ummm, can you tell I''m a Thomas Keller fan?!

I''m sure no matter where you guys go, you''ll have a great time celebrating your brother''s accomplishment!!
