*** OOPS - POSTED IN THE WRONG FORUM! I WILL ASK TO HAVE THIS MOVED TO HANGOUT ***
I am in love with the idea of an opium coffee table (so named, I've learned, because they were originally beds that people would smoke opium and lie on). My challenges are (a) quality (I'm not looking for anything super duper fabulous, but utter crap certaily doesn't thrill me... ) and (b) size. I can find some in the 36 X 36 range, and even one in 42 X 42, but I would like to go bigger than that. I would also consider rectangular, and a store near me has one that is 60 X 48, but it's $3,800... YOWCH. Also, looking for the dark finish (distressed is fine) and I would like it to be all wood (not a rattan or glass top). No problem with reproduction because the antiques are likely more than I really want to spend. So, if anyone has any ideas, I would love to hear about them.
