We had a thread like this before, but I could not find it, so figured it was time for a new one!

Every now and again, when reading an old thread, I'll come across a PSer who doesn't post any longer. Like Lottie. Anyone hear from her? She was always so nice. I miss her posts! Her ring was one of my favorites too!

I miss both Ellen and Lorelei. Panda and IndyGirl too! Dragonfly! DCGator, so many others too!

I miss seeing their posts, too. I figure people just move on. Maybe they've outgrown PS for various reasons, or maybe they just have other things they care to do with their time.

I wonder about her too! She was always so friendly and had such a beautiful collection of colored stone rings. And TL is another one that used to post in colored stones a lot that we don't hear much from anymore...

I think Facebook and texts and smart phones have been killing off all the forums. The economic downturn is hitting people in the wallet, too. No matter what forum, or email discussion list, I've seen consistently fewer people participating. Poor economy, job losses, and low rate of return on investments, etc., halted many diamond upgrades.

The ring styles are kind of stagnating now, too. 2003-2005 or 2006 was a sea change in terms of the diamond trade starting to share insider information with consumers, top-cut diamonds becoming affordable and readily available, and the vintage ring styles and halos taking off. It's almost 10 years later, and we're still looking at essentially the same ring styles.

Do the bridal magazines even do big multipage spreads of engagement ring settings anymore? I don't think I've seen any of those since early 2009.

A few PSers met her a number of years ago at a GTG. She has an awesome collection. I remember not wanting to give back one of her rings I had tried on. It was gorgeous.

Thank you for letting me know! I would love to meet her too. My fantasy is to be able to take a trip like she posted about when she was upgrading, and make a purchase on top of it all! I wish she was still posting.
