When the Queen dies ...

I think that all human beings are equally special. It's a pity we can't have such pomp and fanfare for everybody.

But that's just me.

... you, and me.

... even better ... the queen (lower-case q) dies and nobody notices or cares beyond her immediate family and friends.

... even better yet ... some woman in England dies and nobody notices or cares beyond her immediate family and friends.

Slavery :nono:, royalty :nono:, and religion :nono: must be the three most anti-equality ideas ever invented by humans.

Equality being inherently superior to superiority, I'm sure all 3 will eventually be left by the wayside ... generations from now.
People really really like superiority, and they get used to it.

I have always found it amusing that British people pay taxes to support a group of people (who, yes, do good deeds, christan ships on their merry journey etc) that basically believes in a class system where lords, ladies kings, queens etc count and they wouldn't speak to you in a million years.. but with brexit they now need this lord, lady thing more than ever as they will be relying more on tourism.

NO No No No No, kenny! She will live forever.

I'll begrudgingly read it...

I like the queen, royalty, pomp and circumstance, all that. Love it. Because I think it ties us to hundreds of years of history, and it's fascinating. I love the whole to-do, every time someone is born or dies, or stubs a royal toe. All the royals, from all the royal countries. Cool. :appl:

But then again, every time I'm at a wedding, I think back to medieval times, a small farmhouse and cattle being exchanged. There's not much today that goes back thousands of years.

I hear you, but lots of traditions (cherished by many who benefited) have been discarded in favor of equality and what's more moral and ethical ......... slavery, child labor, right to smoke everywhere, women not voting, corsets, etc.

I'm not saying royalty is equally bad, but I will say that history and tradition are not, in themselves, reasons to keep things.
Good people should constantly ask, "Why is THAT still going on?".

Over time societies improve ... well, at least up till Cheeto. :nono:

I think the English monarchy has given up all that, haven't they? I think they did evolve. They no longer behead people, run inquisitions, etc. They're just for show. Which is kinda fun, for me anyway.

Being superior, based solely on choosing your parents well, is "kinda fun" for you?
Okay.

Why the big anti-royalty chip, Kenny? It's not that big of a deal, it's not even our country. :)

I think a great woman who has served her nation and the wider Commonwealth with unfailing dignified duty (often at great personal cost) for her entire life is due a decent farewell when the time comes...

Actually wouldn't it be royalty, and their supporters, who have the chip on their shoulders?
Why don't they want every British citizen to enjoy the unearned perks, fortune, and the status that the royals enjoy?

Why isn't every British family extra super duper special?

Royalty is like cigarette sales.
It only happens today because it happened yesterday ... and people have no balls for insisting on what's right.

As a British citizen, I wouldn't want to have every aspect of my life scrutinised by the media, live my life in the public eye, the world watching and commenting on my weight, or my outfit. Speculating about if/when I'm going to produce an heir. Having to attend boring functions and make nice to heads of state, politicians, et al. The thought of never having a normal life, and in the case of the Queen, it being a job for life, (don't foresee her retiring), no thanks, I'm happy with my lot being a lowly underling!

Oh, Kenny, wouldn't they look silly walking around in all those jewels? And the horse poop!
Wouldn't it be awesome if everyone is as super-duper special as Kim Kardashian? Royalty is just celebs with a better bling than most celebs. o_O
