Nope, not you at all Kenny. You don''t post daily about your diamond.

If I wanted to name someone, I would have.

If you don''t have anything nice to say, don''t say it... AT ALL.

Irish you crack me up as usual.

I think 3.5 and above is honkin''. I would love to have a honkin'' something one day. Something meaning diamond of course.

Perhaps everyone should just put thier carat weight in the signature area. Then the person irritating PP wouldnt have to post about it anymore. Then again if I had a honker I might want to post about it daily too.

I KNOW I have irritated people when I got my pear - but I was excited and was happy to share my joy with people of this forum since it is a DIAMOND forum and we all talk, discuss and show... well, diamonds. I never get irritated when I read about people''s jewelry... It''s really fun!!!

Why would anyone be on a diamond forum if people gushing about their diamonds bugs them? Isn''t this kind of like Carats Anonymous?
This made me LOL! "Hello, my name is Emm, and I''m a diamondholic."

nahh,no big deal....this is normal for PP.

Its also country and culture dependant.

My average by PS standards 1 c center, and 2 x .20 sidestones are honkers in australia for most average australians. So I love my ring and dont think it is too big, but when I am out shopping or doing the school run, yep it is a honker. Most australians dont spend that much on jewellery in generall and are not into them as such.... thank goodness for PS

Yep, I know. That''s why I said it. I think everyone is well aware it''s normal for PP, but that doesn''t mean everyone should just have to deal with it. I will reiterate: if you don''t have anything nice to say, just don''t say it at all. Her original post had nothing to do with the original question.

Mine is a 1 carat OMC and it just murmurs discretely.
I think a 2 carat would honk quite nicely and that would be my limit.

Ahh.. my 2c honked pretty loudly when I first got it but the battery is running out of juice, slowly but surely
39.gif

I''d say 4cts is when I they transform from stones into ROCKS.

you mean into BOULDERS.

DF you took the words right out of my mouth.
Seriously.
You and I are birds of a feather.

I live in pretty rural area near the beach and anything over about .80 really honks around here. My friend has a .50 yellow marquise in a micropave setting and to me it honks because its so beautiful.

Having said that, diamonds do shrink when you get them home
2.gif
so for me the ultimate "honk" size would be anything over 2c, especially if it was an asscher or radiant.

For me, any well cut beautiful diamond honks no matter the size. Even a tiny beautifully cut sparkly bright diamond is an attention getter for me
18.gif

whereas a large diamond that is not well cut is not much of a honker at all.
Of course, the best of both worlds is that large beautifully cut diamond
30.gif
but I certainly appreciate the smaller great cut diamonds too

I have been stunned by many weird posts on PS ( from many different people too, anyways... ), But I agree, if you really have nothing nice to add, as it has been nicely put: STHU!

When I think ''HONK'' I think of like... the tasteful non-tacky diamond version of Dolly Parton or Cher.

Big, bold, beautiful and just all about presence.
+1! I''ve seen various sizes that HONK. I think the size that Honks would depend on individual finger coverage, plus the cut, and if I notice the ring because it''s just "winking" at me from afar since it''s so sparkly...those definitely honk...

Any size that is clean and well cut honks. I've seen some half carat stones make some 4 carat stones disappear.
I like your answer :)

I do sometimes worry that I''m a bling-loudmouth, then there''s the wild and weird photography and all.

I was disappointed when I came back from the CNY thing we did and there weren''t MORE man hair shots

I think you should post more of your rejects haha :D (that stone has no bad side - the way he designed it, it''s beautiful from every angle.)

2.5 carats and up.

i saw a 3 stone on my best girlfriend''s finger. it had a .95 in the middle and 2 x .45, one on each side. no big stones, but all supremely cut and sparkled like mad. on her long, skinny fingers she had total finger coverage and i swear this ring looked like it was dragging her hand down!

i dont know if it was honking - i couldnt hear it over the...

HONKING!!

and PinkAsscher - i dont think this is ''carats anonymous'' - this is more ''carats-''i really wanna talk about it and i LOVE my jewelry and...come back! why are you running away?? i''m not done talking about my ring yet!!''

i mean - that could be the name for a support group, right?

Ummmm, any size that causes the owner to post almost daily about their ring, and causes them to constantly mention the carat weight, and uhhh, makes you want to say to them ''enough already, it''s a rock, we get that, STHU woman - surely there''s more to your life than your ring''.

LMAO!!!!

i think it totally depends on:

1. finger size

2. average diamond size where you live

3. cut

1 ct, well cut on size 4 finger in UK = honker

2 ct, poor cut on size 8 finger in US = meh

i saw a rubbish 2 ct + on a finger here, i wanted to give it a burial coz it was DEAD

Seriously, this made me laugh out loud!!!

I am in the Uk and would certainly agree with the assessment on Uk rings. Having never been to the Usa I am in no position to comment!!
Having seen the amazing rings the Usa contingent on here have and the rings my fellow Uk Ps''ers have bought from there I am very keen to get over to that side of the atlantic.

Gotta get me a honker!!!

I think it really depends on finger size, also... I consider anything over 3 carats to be a very large stone, a ''rock.'' Anything under is something you could see everyday, which is not to say they aren''t stunning and lovely stones... but 3+ carats = honker, IMO. Much more rare. This forum has plenty of 2.5+ stones but very few over 3 carats. Seems to be the magic number!
I agree 3cts is my magic number for honking

the size bigger than what I have..
Swedish bean, I agree. The size bigger that what I have.
41.gif
And 4 carats is BIGGER than I have! HONK HONK!
23.gif

My diamond doesn''t honk, but sometimes she sings...clears throat...

One singular sensation
Every little step she takes.
One thrilling combination
Every move that she makes.
One smile and suddenly nobody else will do;
You know you''ll never be lonely with you know who.
One moment in her presence
And you can forget the rest.
For the girl is second best
To none,
Son.
Ooooh! Sigh! Give her your attention.
Do...I...really have to mention?
She''s the...
She''s the...
She''s the...
One!

cute Marian!

ha-ha, I live in NYC and am surrounded by huge rocks, but seem to not have completely assimilated. If it's well cut and the finger is not overly huge I think anything over 1.2 cts is a rock and anything over 1.75 is a boulder. beyond 2 cts and I am blinded
3.gif
gorgeously blinded, but blinded nonetheless
2.gif

For me, I think .75-1.25 is the sweet spot for a big but not overly huge diamond. I don't think I could wear something that big on my hand, I am too clumsy and work in the non-profit sector, but for my upgrade pendant...
27.gif
(PS has totally ruined me, I just purchased my "for now, and probably the next 10 years pendant" today and love it, but am already thinking about a future upgrade...6 months ago I didn't even know people could/did upgrade
