Of course I''m super excited to start looking for "the dress," but I have a year before the wedding so I feel like starting now would be too soon. I''m not sure... when did you start?
I just started and my wedding is a year away. I already bought this past weekend...I might have bought one too soon but I guess it''s nice to get that out of the way.
I am going dress shopping for the 1st time this Thursday and our wedding is 11 months away... I hear it''s never too early. Some dresses can take up to 6 months to be ordered, then you have to have a few fittings which could take another 2/3 months.
My wedding is 14 months away and I''ve already been dress shopping for two months. Mostly to get an idea of what I like, but I may have found the dress already...
i bought my dress in march, and my wedding isn''t until october, but i had been looking for a while before that. i''d start early--alterations can take a while, orders can get backed up, and just making a selection can sometimes take quite some time. better to have one early than to have on late, right? starting early will at least give you a good idea of what you want (and if you''ve never tried on wedding dresses before, believe me: what you think you want and what you''ll actually like on your person might be polar opposites!), so you won''t be as likely to panic, settle for a dress and purchase, then find THE ONE! best of luck to ya, and PLEASE, post pics of everything you try on--that''s half the fun of PS!
I ordered my dress even before we''ve set a date and venue
I say it''s never too early, unless you are worried about the dress being out of style when your day come. I''m fashion impaired, so I wouldn''t know if it''s in or out of style anyway.
I was one of those "rush brides." My DF proposed on Leap Day and I tried on 3 dresses on Spring break just to find style/fit..then bought my dress 2ndhand on ebay at the beginning of June. My wedding is next week.
I ordered my dress January 5th and it just came in today, so it took over 6 months to come in. My wedding is in October. The only thing I wish I'd done is wait til February when the newer dresses came out. I would have had some more options and more time to think about it and February they had free alterations if you buy your dress on your first visit (which I did in Jan!!).
It does take awhile for a dress to come in but tastes can change in a year too... I did find a dress I liked better after I got mine but I still love mine so it's ok. It's really hard not to get pangs about other dresses when you have such a long time to wait.
ETA: I started dress shopping in December just after xmas, when we got engaged.
My wedding is exactly a year away, and I''m almost scared to go shopping for my dress! I went and tried some on, liked some, but didn''t love any. I know I''ll find it, but I''m scared I''ll buy one, then see another one that I like better. I think I''m the only girl out there like this, because that''s usually what people rush out to do first thing! I also want to revel in my engagement, and buying a dress is something that I''m enjoying researching and trying on, but not buying just yet!
When are the best months to buy? I.e. when do stores usually have their sample sales?
I got my dress in April this year. I am getting married Sep next year. it will stay in the shop until a week before wedding (remains insured that way). of course I also have to go there 2 months before the wedding to get measured so that they can alter it.
