for my cousin''s wedding, i had to wear a hot pink, sleeveless, floor length dress with white trim

oh and the wedding was only a year ago in case any of you thought it might have been decades ago

oh - without doubt - my sister''s in 1978. floral yellow chiffon with a floor-length tiered skirt and big bell sleeves.

it was horrific and i was very tanned and blond, so i kind of blended into the fabric of the dress like one huge yellow and brown blob.

this was not my finest fashion hour....

oh gosh... I really should show you a picture... too funny.. it was my cousins'' wedding and it had laced all over with huge puffy sleeves, and the bottom half was just a tad under hot pink color with pink heels... That was the day I hated pink, swore pink off for about 10 years, and just a few years ago, I started to slowly buy pink again.

WOW

suddenly the dress i had to wear doesn''t sound so bad, thanks for sharing, ladies

I wasn''t a BM, but I did read at my brother''s wedding. When he got married, I had to wear a floor length gold sleeved dress....not so bad, but the gold doily overlay was scary. Needless to say, I avoided pictures all day, lol!

At my bro''s wedding his wife had us wear these horrible lilac dresses that were empire cut and then had two pleates that came from under the bust and flared out. Basically, they made all the girls look 6 months pregnant.

She is heavier, so I swear she did it on purpose! LOL

Am i the only one that wants my girls to look FAB!

The worst one I had was light blue tea length strapless number...I felt so inappropriate wearing that in a church. Jesus and the guests did not need to see that much boobage or legs. I''m 5''10ish and David''s Bridal tea length hits above my knees and with little structure it didn''t really contain the girls. Another David''s dress, red and long, when caught in the rain it stained my entire body pink. But it looked OK, the dress that is, I just looked hot pink. Shockingly I have no photos to share.

OMG I had to wear a dress just like this! But it was royal purple satin. I looked gargantuan!

When I was looking at BM dresses, I told my girls just to wear something comfortable and dressy in black. That was good enough for me!

We definitely need pictures of this!

A maroon sack with sheer sleeves. I made most cows look svelt.

In my best friend''s wedding, I was 8 months pregnant, huge and swollen. She chose these lilac satin strapless dresses which looked cute on everyone else, but there was no way in the world I was wearing strapless so I had to have a huge maternity dress made out of the fabric. Let''s just say, I hate her pictures

i demand to see pictures of all of these!!
lol - i have lucked out so far. I hated the dress i wore to my sisters wedding (60ish purple jumper) but in her defense, it did look great on me.

oh my..I remember it like it was yesterday. I was a PEACH colored dress with HUGE shoulder pads. The best was the cut out in the back of the dress that looked like Freddy Kruger got to it. It had strips of material going from one side of the back to the other. HORRIBLE

I had to wear this forest green number with big puffy sleeves and a three tier cascade down the back. And a huge butt bow. I looked like an evergreen tree. This was in 1994. Did I mention that instead of purchasing these dresses off the rack, my friend picked out a pattern and bought fabric? My friend and I were both in the wedding and our mothers had to make these dresses. There were like 27 pieces to it. I remember we came home from the county fair and found them drinking wine and giggling as they cut the dresses out.

No. I want my girls to look their best too!!!

But who knows? Maybe the gowns we choose for them will be considered horrible in 20 years?

I *think* my brother''s fiancee is going to let us pick out whatever Davids style we want as long as it''s the color POOL BLUE.
I have fair skin and reddish hair wearing the same color as a pool liner? This should be interesting.

Starset...um...I think pool blue is actually kindof a pretty color, and aqua blues are supposed to be flattering on almost all skin tones.

...and, I say this because I had a very similar color at my wedding.

I love the style of that dress but I don't own anything blue because I tend towards olive, gold, brown, orange, mustard, cranberry.
I suppose with a little dark hair dye and some tanning lotion I'll be okay. Guess I should be thankful it's not lemon chiffon with gold lamee sleeves

Red/black sheen taffeta. Halter top. I have little ladies. Nuff said.

Emerald green w/black lace over top..poofy sleeves..I don''t know what she was thinking. If my scanner was working I''d put a picture up.

nah. whatever i thought of them, my sister loved them, and i love her, so i''ll stop short of pictures.

and i DEFINITELY know better than to fall for this invitation to embarrass myself, lorelei! hopefully i can induce you to save your smiles for my jewelry, not photos of me looking like an autumnal cacophony of bad taste!

Oh Ick, it was at my cousins wedding in 1970. She picked the hottest day of the year, in California. It was a stiff long heavy blue dress with this ultra stiff lace around the neck and sleeves. The dress was sleeveless. I thought I was going to die. It made me itch to no end. The neckline was high, so the lace made me feel like I was going to choke, it itched so bad.

When it was time to take the dress off, I had a rash around my neck, due to the lace and the heat. I wasn''t the only one. Needless to say, that horrible dress went in the garbage can.

My college roommate made us wear these full length burgundy polyester satin dresses that were so unflattering and bulky, not to mention the wine color that I would normally NEVER wear. Fortunately, the wedding was super fun, and made up for the unfortunate BM dress choice.
