What's the first thought when you see this picture?

I thought why is the spread already on and the toasts piled up, you can't touch them with that spread everywhere... And what's that spread? And the left dark brown looks like a bear.....


(The shape looks like artisanal toast here, so that's not bothering me at all)


eek I zoomed in and it looks like a chocolate spread & pb & then some herb/garlic butter in the same basket... Blech

edit and i really live vegemite
and nutella
but nutella is banned in this house because i would just eat it out of the jar
one does not eat vegemite that way
in fact i do often wonder if foreign people who have tried vegemite and dont like it simply spread on too much

Isn’t I ate too much at once, but I just didn’t like the taste of vegemite - too strong and bitter

But Nutella…very different story!!!! ..it’s like a drug haha - I can’t have it in the house either

I don’t like that all the spreads are touching each other. The other thing that really bothers me is that they should be put in the basket horizontally to match the shape of the basket.

I vividly remember moving from Auckland to Brisbane and thinking Vegemite was the same as the Marmite I grew up with and being so disappointed!! They’re really not the same.
Similar, but vegemite is SO much stronger and more bitter, it sort of just slaps you in the face a few times and flounces off before you can recover. Marmite, on the other hand, is a warm and rich velvet that soothes the throat and enthralls the senses without, yknow, assaulting them…
I buy my Marmite and Milky Bars at a 1000% markup from the local Brit outpost here. Worth it!!

I thought that it is strange to have one piece of toast with a ton of Vegemite on it; plus, another piece with garlic butter: together in the same basket along with what might (or might not) be plain toast. I'm not even sure about that. My thought was that someone probably felt that they were being creative - with oddly shaped bread - in setting up what they felt would make a unique still life to photograph. However, IMO, they instead really missed the mark and ended up with an unappealing mess.

Okay, I’ll explain the reason for this poll….my husband thinks I have OCD tendencies when it comes to food prep.

MY first thought was…who spread the toast?!?! Why aren’t any of the spreads going to the edges? Everything I make has to be perfectly layered. Lunch meat and cheese have to be trimmed to off the bread for sandwiches spread has to go all the way to edges, lasagna noodles have to be trimmed to fit the pan, food has to be seasoned on every side. I cannot stand uneven filling in a wrap or burrito…..

But, all the other answers in my poll reflected subsequent thoughts in my mind….odd shaped bread, different spreads all in one basket, and who the heck serves this basket of toast?!??

So I asked my friend who posted this pic…he said it was taken at a steakhouse in Taiwan, and that the signature assorted toast was the complimentary bread basket they serve with their steak!!!! Which again brings me back to who the heck made this toast? A 5 year old who can’t spread?

Anyway, I wanted to see if i was the only oddball with food OCD, and I’m glad to see I’m in good company…and I can show my husband that I’m perfectly “normal” by PS standards! Most of us are trying to get the perfect specs for our diamonds, and I want a perfect piece of toast!
