What's making you happy right now?!?

Cute picture, Erica. ::) How many do you have?

$1 iced coffee at Crumbs bakeshop, I think they make the best iced coffee so I've been taking full advantage of their "sale". I'm also very happy to have the summer off and have been taking advantage of some great yoga and fitness classes. :appl:

My family. My good health (being able to watch DD grow up. I lost a friend not very long ago from inflammatory breast cancer - all women should read up on it, as it's not detectable by mammogram, affects mostly younger women, and is among the most deadly and aggressive forms of breast cancer. I've been thinking about her a lot this week. She left behind 2 young kids.) Having my dream job.

But what's making me happy right at this very moment? Watching the antics of our new chickens running around the yard

This made me smile :)

What'choo looking at?

hahahahah, I LOVE THIS! MORE!

Some pretty crazy stuff is going on in my life right now so I really need to focus on the good, or in fact GREAT things that have happened to me recently...

One of my top dreams in life came true this month!!! My work PAID for lil ol ME to go to JCK :appl: I am so amazed and grateful for the opportunity!! This sounds weird, but I could die today not feeling like I missed anything...don't know why I think like that but oh well 8)

If you are so inclined to share, what's making you happy right now?

oh that is so awesome!!! I am so glad I met you; I wish we had more time to chat!

I am happy about my husband having Friday and Monday off!

For those of you with sick loved ones I'm so sorry. Really. My parents are getting so much older and their health is fragile. Its something you can't put aside. Missey I was wondering about your DH - you mentioned something awhile back, also about his vision. I really hope all goes well for you.
happy generally, animals being odd and idiotic, always great - funny and liberating. Chickens can indeed be hilarious. Dog walking always great.
happy right now, just used the thread here on which photo book service to use to make our engagement photo book. So my dear man, my beautiful beautiful engagement ring and all it means and the fact that I've just won a cool new contract in my self employed part of the week.
Oh and my recently partially dislocated shoulder, accident done in yoga class, is now all but well and I'm going to start going again next week after a month off, so that's great.
yaaaay. Oh and a sunny day today, after weeks and weeks and weeks of raaaaaain
A good happy relaxing weekend to all

Hi laughinggravy0, that's so sweet of you to remember. My dh is still being followed for his CRVO and in fact has an appt with the retinal specialist tomorrow AM. So far he has been stable so that's good. Fingers crossed for tomorrow. He's been through a lot this last couple of years. I appreciate your kind thoughts.

I hope your recent recovery re dislocated shoulder continues to go well and best of luck on your future wedding plans and congrats on your new contract- very exciting times ahead for you!! :wavey:

Well, the plan was to get 3. Maybe 5 at the most. So I have 18

(I've been told I have trouble setting limits, lol.)

LOL I think most of us here can identify with that! :cheeky:
I used to think people with more than 2 cats/2 dogs had issues and now we happily have 4 and I feel myself resisting rescuing another (and another and another....)

One of my major negatives had turned into something that makes me very happy....my father had surgery Monday and all of the tumors and cancerous lymph nodes were removed from his small intestine and bowels. :appl:

Other things that make me happy on a daily basis..... Watching my 20 month old daughter twirling in our living room babbling-and the fact that her medical issues have seemed to resolve themselves. Also, my family, I have very involved and caring parents that are always there for myself, DH and daughter.

My husband, daughter and I have faced many challenges and stresses over the last year with DH's flight training, our daughters health, school, and a few other things. I learned that one's outlook on the situation and ability to find a little "me" makes a world of difference in how the challenges are managed and life is enjoyed.

Wonderful news about your father and your daughter armywife! And I totally agree with how your outlook can make a big difference in how challenges are met. Best wishes for continued good health for your family.

* currently free of awful gall-bladder pain (rough night last night! WHY did I think I could eat ICE CREAM???!!!!)
* the new patio awaits for some afternoon sunning
* surrounded w/curling furry babies
* looking forward to making new recipe for warm potato salad involving avocados, olive oil & a squeeze of lemon (but not too much - ouch)

Gall bladder pain is the worst! Its one of those pains you never forget. I had mine taken out which was the best thing ever. I was getting attacks all the time. That feeling when the pain stops is the best thing ever!

So true! It took 4 years for the doctors to diagnose my gallbladder problems because my pain was radiating on the left side, so they never bothered to look at the gallbladder.

Turns out I had the equivalent of three 15-carat diamonds in there (yes, even gallstones get translated into diamond-equivalent sizes, lol) and had it removed and feel so great now! 4 years of pain gone - poof!

I did have an awful reaction to the general anesthesia though. Couldn't pee for a week (don't ask!) and had to carry around a portable cath (bag 'o pee-pee). It sucked. But so worth it in the end.

I am so happy for but at the same time jealous of you guys who have chickens running around and laying fresh eggs. I love love love organic free-range eggs and organic free-range chicken but have never tasted freshly laid eggs! :(sad

The thing is I am a real city girl but I''ve been entertaining the idea of having chickens in our backyard. The only problem is that here in Singapore it's impossible to have a yard big enough to really rear chickens. The irony is that DH's family has tons and tons of farmland and yet all they they do is grow corn (and not even the sweet juicy kind but the stuff you feed to animals)!!

To answer the original Q, I am happy that my month-long cold seems to be getting a bit better. Fingers crossed I can get rid of it soon...the darn thing!!

Rosetta, I love your tag line. LOL!

That a recent health scare turned out to be just that "a SCARE".... feeling very blessed... :-) :appl: :appl: :appl: Prayers Answered!!!! :appl: :appl:

Glad to hear it Mayk! :appl:

What's making you happy right now?
My job.
The people are great, the work is (genuinely) interesting, my project is stable and promising, and I can actually sleep through the night - no waking up at 3am with my stomach in knots about what's going to happen tomorrow.

Needless to say my DH is happier too!

Making me happy right now:

A quiet office for the first time today (well, it is 7:40pm, and it's just me and the cleaning crew).

A redecorated office this summer: new carpet, new paint, new chairs.

I'm finally making in the upper five figures, even if my job is a challenge. And that's good money, here, and in this economy.

Some time off tomorrow (although I'll probably come in for a bit).

It's summer!!!

can i borrow $30K?

Having electricity, running water, gas in the car, real food, cell phone, landline and Internet service after being without for the past 3 days in 100+ degree heat. I will never take those things for granted again. Being stuck without any form of communication with the outside world was not a good feeling.

Spending a lovely week in Surfers Paradise with my daughter. It's a nice break from school for her and a long overdue break for me. It's nice to have some time together - that's makes me very happy right now , =)

This lol, need I say more.

You picked a great week for it Monnyjay; the weather is devine! Enjoy :appl:

Things that are making me happy:

Sitting in the sun reading a book (it's the middle of winter and this feels so decadent!)

My husband just being the fabulous man he is

I got two 7s (out of 7) for the courses I took last semester (woo hoo!)

I have an interview for a tenure-track job in 10 days (that one is a bit stressful as well as happy)

Our renovation plans are moving ahead- we might be finished and back in by Christmas :appl:

Honestly - almost everything. Job has some frustrating elements right now, but it pays well and I'm really good at it.

Everything else - couldn't think how to improve it (short of retirement). About to celebrate 8 years married to my husband, and I'm more in love with him today than ever - I TRULY got a catch.

My 11-year old dog is still heathy and full of P&V - total blessing that I"m SO grateful for.

My parents are happy and healthy and enjoying retirement. My close local friends are at a good spot in their lives and about to go on an Alaskan cruise - so happy for them. Another friend is enjoying hanging with her beautiful boy and her hub today and life is treating her well. Another friend's daughter just graduated college and is going to a top-flight school in her field, and she's just celebrated a milestone anniversary.

I have enough to eat. I have shelter. I have love, and the companionship of amazing friends. Not much to want for. :-)

I'm really happy that my husband is taking three days off next week. We'll be celebrating our 4 year anniversary on Thursday at a few of our favorite places by the beach in Maine, and I can't wait.
