Do you spend more time watching TV or surfing the Internet?

According to Google survey (Britain turns off - and logs on), more time is now spent on the internet than on watching TV:
A survey conducted on behalf of the search engine found that the average Briton spends around 164 minutes online every day, compared with 148 minutes watching television. That is equivalent to 41 days a year spent surfing the web: more than almost any other activity apart from sleeping and working.

I dont own a working tv so I spose I spend more time on the net.
It blew up a few months ago and I never bothered replacing it.
Iv got a tv tuner card in my computer if I really want to watch it but if im at my computer anyway Id rather be here than watching tv :}

It''s changed drastically in the last couple of years ... now probably more internet than TV (especially having Tivo, where I can just watch what I want to and not be sitting at the TV looking for good stuff).

It''s a funny scene in our house some nights ... with my FI & I both in the living room in front of the TIVO, with matching Powerbooks on our laps, multi-tasking. The cats don''t like it much ... as they believe our laps are THEIR PROPERTY.

HAHA yep that''s me...I can multi-task with the best of them...last nite I watched and flipped between AI and Smallville, made dinner (stuffed chicken which had to be basted every 10 minutes in the oven!), AND checked out PS from time to time on my laptop from the couch.

Yep, why do one thing when you can do two at the same time!

I think a better question is: How often do you watch tv without your laptop on?

Most times I have my lap top while watching TV. I like doing both at once. Depends on what I''m watching though.

Never. My laptop is on all the time and I am on it most of the time except showering, etc.

we have cable for the computers, not tv...in fact, i haven't had tv since 1993......i do have a 32 inch tv that serves as a dvd monitor.

eta: so that means the computer absorbs my time........

My kids think I''m out of my mind but I multitask. My computer runs 24/7 so when I sit down here to do my business, I turn the TV on as well. I often split screen so I can watch one program on one side of the TV and monitor the actions of the other program on the other half of the TV. I may switch from one program to the other during commercials. I don''t want to choose one device over the other

It''s a sickness, I know........

my laptop is almost always on and connected when i am awake...i work from home about 1/2 my time, i typically will listen to music on a CD or on the jazz satellite channels on the TV or will put on my soap operas or the view or something for background noise if i am spending most of my day at home.

Internet mainly, I can find far more things of interest to me, the television can be a bit grim to say the least here

I think that''s why I turn the tv... the background noise and the background. I like to have some sounds and moving screen when I am doing something. I can''t do one thing at a time, then I get bored.

TV gathered dust for so long it finally got out of the house for good. One ugly piece of furniture less. Two laptops take turns and more than once work slips seamlessly into leisure on the same keyboard. Working mostly from home, Pricescope and a couple of instant messaging programs keep company.

Without a doubt, I spend far more time on the Internet. I think it''s generally more fun than watching T.V. (although there are a few TV shows I really like) I just think it''s somewhat fasinating how one website can lead you to another and another and so on... My poor kitties, they loved it when we had a "regular" monitor and they could lie on top of it and feel the warmth. My husband was always afraid they would throw up in it-lol. Now, that we have a flat screen monitor, they feel sorely deprived.

I''m here aren''t I?

Definitely the net. I (literally) don''t even know how to turn our TV on. Before I married my happy hubby I never had one once I moved out to go to college, and the only time I''ve ever wanted to turn it on myself was on 9/11. Had to call HH and ask him how to do it. All those crazy remote controls -- Yesh! Whatever happend to the on/off button???

Spend most of my evenings surfing the web.

Jeff

Definately the net. Most of the shows that I like to watch are on in the evening and I have to wait because DH likes them too. By the time we get the kids in bed, it is 9 and after getting up at 6:30, I can''t last much past 10. Also, hard to watch our programs while the kids are up.
