Hi lovely ladies!! I''m a longtime lurker on this forum, first time poster (I think?). A little background on me, I used to be married, I''m not anymore. I just recently relocated to Seattle, and I have a first date tonight! Any Seattle ladies out there who can give me some dress-code outlines? I think we''re meeting at Tavern Law? Can I wear skinny jeans, a loose-ish black top and some black stilettos? Do I need to wear color? I don''t know what people wear up here! Help! :)

I''m not a tavern person so I can''t help much with those specifics.

What we wear depends on where we are going & what we are doing (and who we are with). If you are going to be walking around Seattle (or going to a place where you have to park several blocks away), the heels may be a bit uncomfortable.

You have to wear cargo shorts, wool socks, birkenstocks and a wool sweater w/ one wooden button on it. Just kidding! We dress just like anyone else! Your outfit sounds fab and I say wear what is "you". I''d say on average most people are pretty casual here in the PNW! Good luck, let us know how it goes!

I have no advice for you, your outfit is way more chic than anything I''d ever wear

I love your screen name though!

Bwahahaha! And a fuzzy hat to match? Love it! Thanks for the advice, he''s cute and I''m excited!

I'm in NY not Seattle but you're outfit sounds great, good luck tonight!!

ETA: and if you want color, how about with your purse, or a knit scarf?

Have you read the Yelp.com reviews to gain a general feel for Tavern Law. I''ve never been there, but when I go to Capital Hill, I''m usually going to see a movie and dress casually (for me would be designer jeans and a simple black shirt/sweater - pretty much what you''re talking about wearing

Excellent fitting jeans are a MUST!). That''s during the day, though. . .jeans and black top *also* sound great for night! Stilletos? I''m not sure as I''ve been married for a long time and have kids so I''m out of the dating loop. Those may be over-the-top (as was mentioned, what if you have to walk more than a few blocks due to parking OR decide to stroll around a bit?). Then again, they be fine for you. . .I wouldn''t wear them, though!

seattle''s pretty chillax. there''s absolutely NO real dress guidelines. west coast cas.

I''d say it is a major culture shock for someone who relocated from the East coast, like myself. If you are not feeling the same way I did, then you can wear whatever you want. You are likely at home.
I found a personal shopper at Nordstrom''s in Bellevue Square, and she finds me the best stuff that really suits me. She does amazing job for all ages. If you feel you have problems, post this question again, and I shall give you her name.

How was the date???

yes - come back and fill us in! :)

Ooh! Okay

.. So I think it went well, I''m so out of practice with this stuff I really have no clue. He''s pretty cute (it was a Match.com date), a seemingly good balance of sarcastic wit and emotional honesty.... We talked for four hours straight, then he walked me back to my car and kissed me goodnight and took my breath away! I''m not sure what''s going to happen next, I''m so bad at this stuff... so I guess I''ll just see what happens. He sent me a message yesterday saying thanks for meeting up with him, I replied and said I had fun..

So anyway, thanks for the fashion advice, ladies! I felt comfortable and cute... and thanks for checking back with me.

Sigh, I can''t remember the last time I had my breath taken away. You go girl!
