What should I get my nephew for his first play?

My 9 year old nephew is the lead in his school's play. He is SO excited. I'm going to attend opening night and I want to give him something. I know flowers are the *standard* performance gift but they just don't seem right. He's 9 and a boy...who doesn't like flowers.

Any ideas?

I would say balloons, but I'm not sure where you'd keep them during the performance.

What's the play? Is there some sort of toy/book/game you can tie to the theme of the show?

Hi,

An after theatre party of course. This could include---pizza, ice-ceam sundays(sp), a few friends.

After recitals we usally went to their favorite food place.

Gift certificate

Balloons, that might be a good idea! I could keep them in the car, right?

VC, it's Peanuts. So maybe I can get something Snoopy related?

As long as it's not hot outside!

Smit, our posts must have crossed. A gift certificate might be good (or cash for that matter - what kid doesn't like cash?) but I won't be able to do anything after. I'm driving almost 2 hours to see the play and have to hit the highway soon after.

Love that, pupp! Most places sell Snoopy balloons, too...so you could probably get him a small Snoopy balloon bouquet tied to a Snoopy/Peanuts book or two! Or maybe the DVD of "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown!"

I like it. I might go with the Peanuts themed idea.

BTW, I just realized he is NOT the lead. He's Linus. Wouldn't Charlie Brown be the lead? Oh well, I'm certainly not going to burst his bubble!

How about a framed copy of the program?
