Pandora, you enjoy poker, too? DH and I have been into poker for a while. We actually entered a real tournament in Atlantic City last year. It was fun! I made the final table! DH got knocked out early, though.
LOL, we''re both gamblers - albeit very restrained small stakes and we only gamble on things that are not down to pure luck. So, poker and political betting (and the odd geegee
27.gif
)

I''ve been playing for about 6 years now and DH a bit longer. I play Texas Hold''em, Omaha and Omaha HiLo - I like Omaha HiLo best, but it''s rare to get a big enough group who know how to play it to have a decent tournie.

Before the baby was born I used to play live tournaments on Wednesday and Sunday evenings and then online tournies during the week. I have only played once in 4 months now as I can''t take the baby to the bar we play in. So, trying to organise some more home games to get my fix - We used to host a lot of games and had a full-size table in our last house, but not anymore.

The last live one I played was two days before I went into labour! They guys were all petrified as I was so huge I could barely fit behind the table - they''d seen me expand week on week and were convinced I would end up having the baby there on the table!

Not a lot of women play around here - normally we are 19/20 people of which 2/3 are female... but statistically we do rather well!

It''s a fantastic game for mental agility and learning probability - we will definitely be teaching our daughter when she''s old enough!
I agree!

We used to play weekly, with a group of about 15-20, at one of our friend''s house. About 5 months ago, it kinda fell apart - one guy was going through a divorce, one guy had a baby, one changed shifts, DH & I got married... it wasn''t as fun (or lucrative
27.gif
) with 8 or 9 people.
You''re right, not a lot of women get into it... in our group, there were 3 women, tops. Sometimes, I was the only woman there!
How funny that you played 2 days befor labor! If I were preggo, I''d say things like "The baby thinks I should bet" lol. I think men get put off a lot by women players!

I definitely want to get to AC again. We used to talk a lot about getting all the folks from our home game to take a trip there (it''s only an hour drive), but its impossible to work around 20 people''s schedules!

*sorry for the threadjack, guys!*

I like this thread

Soon-to-be-DH is interested in/obsessed with:

-Pro football and baseball and golf. And some tennis. Mostly football, especially the Broncos, Steelers, and his blasted fantasy team
20.gif

-Topography/Geography/GIS/Maps. If he could be anything besides a pharmacist, I think it would be a geographer and map-maker.
-Beer, microbrews, brewing
-Indie Rock and discovering new bands/going to shows
-Our pets, especially our new pup

Expensive hobby. Just keeping current for medicals and licenses can be big money. Not to mention the insurance, fuel, annual for the airplane, new "important" things that the airplane "has to have".

Women with men who fly have got to be the most patient people out there.

You have a life insurance policy that will cover him flying right?

I should mention -- It isn''t all bad. When done right it can make him very agreeable. "What do you mean that ring is $2,500?" "The new glass cockpit is $25,000."

My solution is to encourage him. And only support anything that holds 4 or more people. I''m learning now and using the simulator at home so I can get MY license too.

That way it is something that we can share. (otherwise you get left at home while he is out at all hours of the night working on it, spending time with mechanics, writing out big checks while you sit at home and say "It''s almost midnight. Why didn''t you tell me you were going to be late for dinner. I didn''t eat because I was waiting for you. What do you mean you already had dinner?"
(no, I''m not joking. I''ve had this conversation. Several times. And worse.)

Hockey and video games (which overlap). A warning to ladies out there with gamer hubbies - NHL 10 is released today...
32.gif

I''m not married to FF *yet*, but I tought it would be fun to play!
His obsessions:
-Beer (both brewing and drinking)
-Fly Fishing
-Muscle Cars
-His band and his MTD Bass
-Environmental Science/Hydrogeology/Chemistry
34.gif

We''re not married yet, but FI is obsessed with his Xbox 360, especially Call of Duty. He also is really into football, hockey and baseball. Surprisingly (to my happiness, though!!
9.gif
) FI loves shopping and shoes.

Pro Football, Wrestling (LOL!!!), and the game boxes.

My DH is obsessed with college football, especially his team. He also loves poker, pro football and baseball, and playing Xbox Live. The one obsession we share is skiing--we have both been skiers since we were toddlers, and we ski almost every weekend in the winter.

THIS cracked me up- the day it came out I got a txt from hubby "guessssssss what came out today"
I had no clue what he was talking about! So expensive, $75! jeeeeeeez!
but, he was playing last night- it is definitely cooler then the other versions!

Not married yet, although I do feel like it after having lived together for so long! Here are FI's in no particular order, ha!

Illini Basketball... and all college basketball for that matter

College football

Interior design and decorating. He is obsessed, but thankfully that means our apartment looks awesome and I don't have to do any of it!

Architecture

Mixed Martial Arts

Reptiles

Military intelligence, Special Forces operations, Al Queda/terrorism, Pakistan/Afghanistan relations, humanitarian aid to war-stricken nations, etc.

Modern Warfare or World At War? FI is obsessed with Call of Duty: World At War in a way I've never seen him obsessed with a video game before. We used to play stuff together (I'm a big fan of Grand Theft Auto; I even played all of the Halos) but now he only plays his game by himself
7.gif
The new Modern Warfare is coming out soon and he alternates between saying how stupid the previous Modern Warfare game was to saying how he's excited for it to come out so he can play

D is obsessed with fishing. He goes about three/four nights a week and he spends a fortune on his fishing gear. He also adores reading things about the economy and is a huge rugby fan.

His Obsessions:

1: airplanes (owns 2)

2: CATS (Miglet, Sven, Lilly, and any other we don''t have living with us - yet)

3: flying stuff (movies, books, helicopters, weather, airports, parts, parachuting, tools, mechanics, music....)

4: home improvement stuff (kitchen remodeling, decks, landscaping, bathroom remodeling)

5: Getting every last bit of white/cream/biege/yellow/brown out of the house.

6: computers (big, small, portable, wireless)

7: media stuff (projectors, bigger screens, better speakers, nicer reclining sofas, soundproofing, colors that turn black in a dark room, storage for DVDs, computers that PLAY movies, buying more DVDs, etc......)

and the latest is WOODWORKING.

Now we have a garage full of woodworking stuff. He is out right now building a platform for the washing machine. To be followed by the speakers he plans to build (starting tomorrow). And then the cabinets for the kitchen. And the cabinets for the laundry room. A dining table. Bookcases.

Mine:

diamonds and anything else wedding related.

#1, 2,3,4 and 7 are the same for mine, too.....except he doesnt fly the planes, he works on them

Lol poor too patient, yes i understand living with a man that is plane obsessed can make you feel like number 2.

No he doesn''t have his pilots licience. He did have but because he is financially supporting us both (i graduate in a few weeks) so obviously it is not a finacially viable option at the moment with one income.

Soon as I''m earning an income I''ve promised him he can get back into it, in fact i''m the once encouraging it.

As for the radio controlled flying that is uber expensive as well (although not as much as actual planes) but still it is an expensive hobby

Yay for brewers! FI is also a homebrewer and way, WAY into beer and brewing.
He also loves disc sports. Disc golf is his real passion, but he loves playing Ultimate, too.
He loves gaming. MMORPGs are his favorite, but he also likes tabletop and console gaming.
And, he loves MLB and NFL.

Luckily, I love most of these things, too.

And I didn''t even go there!

My husband has been big into his family tree for years. He has this big tree planned out, it gets into those moods when he wants to work on it and he can for hours. He likes fish, we have a 72 gallon tank.

fun thread! can i play?

my soon to be hubs is into...

-UFC, MMA, brazilian jiu-jitsu. He lives for it. His dream job would be to be Dana White probably.

-interior design and real estate. i love how one person can be equally in love with a sport like mma and furniture and design. he''s too funny.

-he loves playing craps too but we don''t gamble all that often.

-bulldogs of any type (we have the same taste in dogs)

College Football, Poker, NFL, XBox 360 and....FANTASY FOOTBALL....yuck! I an SOOO over it!

Beer (brews a little, we have a kegorator thanks to me), paint balling (rarely these days), Phillies & Eagles, gym, and reading (we couldn''t have more opposite tastes in books).

Sports, but only to watch. I only get the tv for an hour on Mondays when I watch House lol.

World of Warcraft - this has been ongoing for like 5 years so I just cannot compete, hah.

My DHs are:

1) Cycling - He goes out everyweekend, buys tires other "accessories", researches trails and initially thought that planning trips around his bike rides was cute.
2) Computers - How to make them faster, what toys to buy for the ones we own, etc.
3) TV Serial Shows - But he won''t watch each week, he downloads the entire season and we watch it in 2 or 3 days and the shows range from Ugly Betty/The Office to Californication/True Blood and everything in between. I join in when he''s ready to watch but we never know where we are vs the rest of the world in terms of what is going on with Ari Gold or if Kenny Powers ever made it to Tampa!
