FI and I are currently working on the music list for the DJ, and what we''re most torn on is the general selection of music for dancing. We have a broad range of ages at our wedding, and to be honest we don''t know most of their music tastes and whether they like to dance. All the weddings we''ve been to have been basically the same - the same 50 songs you hear at every wedding (and at the skating rink). Those are fine and dandy, but I''ve seen them fall completely flat on some crowds. We definitely don''t want anything too risque/clubby, since 1) we do have quite a few people our parents'' ages and older attending, and 2) clubby isn''t our scene, anyway.

So, help me out!! What type of crowd-friendly music is guaranteed to get your toes tapping and your booty out on the dance floor?

Well, I won''t be much help because I love Spanish music. I can hear a Spanish commercial and start dancing to the background music LOL.

I must say that Gloria Estefan''s "Conga" gets me moving every time. I get goosebumps just thinking of the song.

I think you probably can''t go too wrong w/ 80s music in terms of getting people dancing...

Haha, fiery, I''ve been laughing at SO MANY goofy music videos on youtube while hunting for song ideas! Have you seen the original video for "It''s Raining Men"?? HILARIOUS. Now I''m dancing (as well as you can dance while sitting in a desk chair) listing to Conga.

We''re definitely going for a fun, slightly goofy feel with the party music. Well, after the classical guitarist playing for cocktails and dinner, that is. Our cake song is "Cut the Cake" by Average White Band. I KNOW I''m going to be shaking my booty while we cut the cake - I can''t help it - the song gets me groovin''. Bouquet toss song is "It''s Raining Men", and FI has chosen "Do ya think I''m sexy" from Rod Stewart for the garter removal.

We had a funk band at our wedding - played mostly music like Brick House, No Parking on the Dance Floor - lots of those types of songs....when I say the dance floor was packed the entire night, I''m not exaggerating. At the end of the reception, we had to turn on the lights and the site staff started sweeping around the feet of those who were still dancing...

You can''t go wrong with classic dance songs, IMO!

I have never seen that video so thank you for that link. My coworker and I were *cracking up*

QUEEN! Crazy little thing called love! I''m dancing to it singing it in my head! You gotta be cool, relaxed! LOL

Abba- "Dancing Queen" .. There''s no way I can''t dance if that song is on.

The Beatles- "Twist and Shout"

Michael Jackson- "Don''t Stop Til You Get Enough" or "The Way You Make Me Feel"

Outcast- "Hey Ya" and "I Like the Way You Move"

B52''s- "Love Shack"

Lionel Ritchie- "All Night Long"

Wild Cherry- "Play That Funky Music

Whitney Houston- "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" or "How Will I know"

Anything by KC and the Sunshine Band
