For me it was the smell of rain and a happy song on the radio on the way to work.

I went thriftstore shopping because I needed some work clothes (meaning clothes that I didn't care if they got covered in stuff, not nice clothes!) and I found a brand new sweatshirt from a local brewery, never worn! Love thrift stores.

For me it was waking up and having Farley, my 7 year old Golder Retriever, finally home from emergency after a very difficult week. We almost lost him a week ago as he got very sick. He was diagnosed with 2 types of cancer, had elevated calcium levels and some kidney failure. With a week of very specialized oncology care and 2 chemo treatments he seems to be doing well. Definitely BIG SMILE!

Farleysmom - I'm glad Farley is doing better!

Today my professor made me smile. He's Portuguese, so has a great accent. He's pretty off the wall, a total nerd, and he was just funny today. He did this whole acted out story line of his foot surgery, including his facial reactions to them asking if he wanted his foot removed. It was awesome.

:appl: Happy homecoming for Farley!! I hope his recovery continues well, and quickly!

It's DH's birthday!!! And he loves cheesecake. So I'm going to make him a cheesecake  I just need a good, hardy, can't-screw-it-up recipe... suggestions welcome!

So great to hear Farley is home and doing well!

What made me smile so far is the morning radio show I listen to on the way to work (they were playing a fun game) and the ice cream cake we had for a student's birthday!

Even though DD is home sick with a mild fever, she feels well enough to read to DS. :)

Just waking up and being well

My twin boys smiling and laughing. How could a momma not smile at them?! They are just the sweetest  :halo:

This thread, actually - I've been having a bit of a down period, but I like hearing what's going well with you guys (FM, good for you and good for Farley!). And, as of right now - it's a gorgeous fall day, and I'm off to Princeton. I defy my silly system to find fault with that!

These little faces made me smile today. They make me smile every day!

The cool weather! I'm in FL so the cool weather makes me feel so good!

Getting my refund!

The glass of wine I am currently drinking...been a long, rough week at work :wink2:

Being told I have a "wide-eyed take on how the world operates" in the Occupy Wall Street thread!

Its a beautiful fall day here and I spent time playing frisbee with my little monster. Nothing beats that.

::snort::

I had to go back just to read that. No unicorns for you, I guess.

Looking at my 14.5 year old retriever rolling in the garden. I'm just so happy that she's still doing so well.

My new perfume! :appl:

Oh, lord, it is God's gift to my nose. Since I quit smoking I'm so INTO smells, and I love this one.

I got samples at Saks and lived on them as long as I could. Then Sephora.com came out with a smaller size for $69 so I jumped at it.

I buy one fabulous perfume per year, but this year's is a real winner. http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P296504

Everyone run and get samples at Saks, Nordstrom, or some Sephoras. It's different on everyone and changes throughout the day, so I don't get sick of it.

Also this stupid song by The Dandy Warhols "All the Money or The Simple Life Honey", made me smile.

Ha I guess not!

After work, I talked to my 1.5 year old nephew on skype today and he can say my name now and he likes for us to sing "itsy bitsy spider" together. I can't imagine being so far away from my sister and the little one without the modern technology we have today. We get to "talk" about 5 times a week - i'm pretty sure he thinks I live in the computer

EDIT: thing2, that made me laugh out loud.

A coworker and his wife welcomed their first baby into the world yesterday. He emailed a few pictures to the office today. The baby girl is absolutely beautiful, and the enormous grin on his face left me smiling all day.

It's kind of hard to tell, but your baby sort of looks like one of my babies! I always sing to these two, "sisters, sisters, there were never such devoted sisters!" I'm just silly about my kids.

Had parent-teacher conferences tonight and London is doing terrific. Her teacher loves her and just gushed over what a sweet little girl she is. Gotta love that.

And, Chucknorris got all spazzy this morning and was trying to run on the linoleum thru the kitchen-he looked like a cartoon, all wide eyed and fuzzed out, making that scritch scritch scritch sound on the floor, all four legs just a going to beat hell and barely getting anywhere.

Yssie, are you kidding me?!! Of course I have more pics! Perhaps I will start a new thread so as not to totally highjack kribbie's thread.

bee* and farley'smom, I'm glad to hear that both of your babies are doing well.

Packrat, your description of Chucknorris made me laugh out loud!

Finding out at the Apple store that I was not the only one with this weird problem, and getting that replaced in an instant, and while I waited my turn for the Genius dude, I was watching an ADORABLE little girl play games on the little iMac for Kids setup they had.
