What kind of fish is this?

I don''t even know how to begin trying to figure it out... the lips look grouperish to me but that''s all I have.

Sara, I''m thinking that''s an oyster toadfish.

Depends on its size..... oyster toadfish could work if its larger. If its smaller it could be in the Blenny family.

Good point, Rhbgirl. I was assuming it''s a large-ish fish, but I might have been wrong about that. Sara, can you tell us how big it is?

it''s big - it''s about the size of a forearm - a little bigger maybe but not quite a full arm length. Definitely not little goby sized though it does seem to be in the same family... gonna check that link now!

the oyster toadfish is very close... the face seems flatter though - but maybe the reason the little guy kept following my finger is he was hungry and wanted to eat it!!!! it is only slightly wormlike but I had just eaten

I seriously doubt this fish is imported so my guess is it''s something that lives in china near rice fields or something?? something the locals would eat. of course they''ll eat just about anything ::shudder::

And I think he (or she?) is maybe some sort of mudskipper?? I''m still trying to figure it out... I have more pictures of it but none were as good as this one... this was the first one... the flash kinda got him excited lol
