LOL, Gypsy. It wasn't your post, it was my own stupid mind wandering and playing tricks on me. I probably would have moved on to the axe murderer lurking behind the open door or zombies breaking in eventually anyways

At least it was a break from thinking about work

Practically everything. Noises, lights, thinking about things, too much caffeine or sugar, aches and pains, coughing, hot, cold, Pricescope.

I used to have terrible terrible problems falling asleep - last two years were the worst but I had this problem for like 10 years or so. I used to toss and turn, went to the bathroom frequently, my head was racing like crazy thinking about all sorts of things etc etc...I went to see so many Drs and not one of them could help me. They all thought it was my over-active mind. The ones in Singapore were the worst, they actually told me I needed to go see a psychiatrist or to visit a mental hospital - WTF?!!

Then I discovered an amazing thing. Well, I was in Chicago visiting DH's family about 3 weeks ago and I was sleeping on Singapore time. I struggled to fall asleep on Chicago time. So clever me (NOT) thought maybe I was taking too much Thyroxine (I have Hashimoto's), so decided to omit the medicine altogether. So not a smart move, or at least it wasn't at the time, as this kept me from going to sleep. I didn't sleep, AT ALL, for two consecutive days, which happened to be the last two days of our trip. So by the time I boarded the first plane back, I hadn't slept for over 50 hrs. Yes, it was really true. I felt like a zombie and thought I was going to fall when I was walking trying to catch our first flight.

Luckily, I decided then that maybe I'd been completely wrong about the medication, so I decided to pop a tiny amount of Thyroxine just before I boarded the first plane. So, on that short flight (4hrs), I cat-napped. Then on the next flight (13hrs or so), I slept for about 5-6hrs and on our last flight (4hrs), I slept for another hour.

When I got home, I decided to up my medication to 50% more. I used to take a daily dose of 25mg of Thyroxine, now I take 37.5mg. Now I sleep like a baby. Sometimes, it'd take me up to half an hour to fall asleep; but most of the time, I fall asleep within 10 mins of going to bed. OMG!! Compared to the hours it used to take, this is a GOD-SEND!!

I also avoid drinking too much water before I go to bed, opting to drink more during the day. I still avoid caffeine after 2pm. But I can totally declare I no longer have a sleeping problem!! YAY!! :appl: :appl:

(I am going back to my endocrinologist to do another test soon. It'll be interesting to see if there's any improvement in the results. I totally expect there will be).

Just thought I'd share this with you guys, in case some of you might have a physiological problem with insomnia, like I did. Of course, the problem might be some other physical (not mental like a lot of people seem to think insomnia is associated with) medical condition and not a thyroid disorder like I have, but IMO it'd be worth it to have whatever it is you might have checked out.

A New Man in My Life!!!

As many of you may remember, I recently have gone through a divorce after 38 years of a MOSTLY unhappy marriage. It took me a long time to come to grips with the reality that it just had to end if I was EVER going to be happy. So, I have been alone for most of the last 2-3 years even though we were still under the same roof. I finally moved out into my own place which was the BEST thing I could have done.

I prayed about putting my profile on a dating site because it's just so complicated (almost virtually impossible) to meet decent men at my age, especially when all you do is work and spend time with your children, grandchildren! I was led to go forward in doing so. I have met the most wonderful man that God could possibly have ever put into my life. He is everything that I have ever dreamed of having but NEVER thought I would have. Yes, it's still in the early phase of getting to know each other but I am up at wee hours of the night chatting on Yahoo IM with him. I can't sleep because he is on my mind so. I ache for the relationship with THIS man. We seem to be perfect for each other in every way up to this point.

And he is a GORGEOUS man which is oh so rare to find one that has all of the qualities that he does. Please pray for me

Thank you so much Enerchi.
His favorite color is BLUE, so I may see that 5ct Sapphire set in a Victor Canera halo that I have dreamed of having ;))
I love my OEC and don't really want or need another diamond. But hey, I'll take what he gives if it goes there :cheeky:

And, he owns a home in Las Vegas and Houston so I can see that I may possibly attend the PS GTG annually ;))

OMG! He owns a home in LV??? I'll let you know next time I'm going... and please go visit him and we can meet!! (ps - LOAD UP YOUR TRINKETS for a little show and tell - I'll play, you tell! ;)) )

I'm going down in November - just throwin' that out there!

I'm happy for you, Bright Ice - I hope it works out for you!!! :appl:
